What’s in my Birchbox? September Edition

September’s Birchbox review is a little later than planned, and this time, it was no fault of my own!

My box arrived at the start of the month and it looked a little sorry for itself. Not only was an item damaged (Manna Kadar Fantasy did not travel well), but I was also missing my Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle spray. Despite this, I have to say that Birchbox customer service were great and kept me updated throughout the month, but due to depleted stock levels, I’ve only just received my items.

This month’s box has honestly been my favourite so far (and I didn’t think we could beat July’s Summer Daze box). The collaboration with Oliver Bonas has included an amazing box design, complete with stickers, and an array of products which were so right for me. If you want to know what I thought about each one, then keep on reading!

Polaar Icy Magic Instant Eye Contour Energiser

I’m already a fan of Polaar products, as their Ice Pure Gentle Scrub (featured in April’s Birchbox) is fantastic! I was really excited to try this as i’m always on the hunt for great eye products. This cooling gel formula, paired with a metal rollerball, is designed to soothe and reduce puffiness around the eye area. As the formulation also contains Ginseng, it promises to brighten and tone the eye area too. I’ve been using this over the last few weeks, and after finally getting the rollerball to move, I’ve noticed a big difference in my under eyes. They are definitely less puffy and feel refreshed, hydrated and rejuvenated after use. The product absorbs nicely into the skin and isn’t strongly scented. If you suffer from puffiness around the eyes, then I highly recommend giving this one a go!

Dr. Pawpaw Original Clear Balm

I’ve been wanting to try this for such a long time so it couldn’t have been a better product to land in my box. As many of you know, i’m a huge fan of multi-tasking products and this is certainly an all-rounder. The balm contains fermented pawpaw which has natural healing properties and is also incredibly hydrating. I’m currently using this as a lip balm and I’ve been seriously impressed by its performance. Not only does it give a lovely sheen to the lips but it keeps them feeling hydrated throughout the day. It has a silky balm texture and the great news is that it’s completely fragrance free! You can also use it on any dry skin patches, on split ends and even sunburn. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this and can’t wait to try the tinted versions over the Winter.

Manna Kadar Fantasy 3-in-1 Blush, Highlighter and Eyeshadow

Manna Kadar was another brand I tried back in April’s Birchbox , so I was thrilled to see another of their products land in my box this month. The Fantasy 3-in-1 product is a pearlescent powder with a warm, champagne-pink hue which is perfect for Autumn. It is highly pigmented and sits beautifully on the skin and gives a lovely sheen to cheeks and eyes (it looks shimmery in the pan but isn’t too glittery when applied). I’ve worn this all day today, and so far it still looks as good as it did this morning. If you’re looking for a new product this season which is great quality and affordable, then I highly recommend Fantasy by Manna Kadar.

Arrow Boost Color Enhancing Lip Balm

Now I was dubious about trying this as I tried an Arrow product before back in June and I wasn’t too impressed. However, I have to say that my experience this time could not have been different. This beautifully packaged balm contains mango seed butter which hydrates and protects lips keeping them in tip-top condition. However, this is much more than a balm. The colour enhancing quality works with your body’s natural pH to create a unique lip shade tailored to you. When you apply, it takes a few seconds for the colour to start appearing. Within a minute or two the colour has intensified and gives a gorgeous tint to the lips. My lips went a lovely pinky shade, which is slightly on the berry side, and lasted pretty well for a lip balm. I can see this being an essential handbag item for the Autumn/Winter and I’m now excited to try more Arrow products in the future!

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle

Back in May I tried out Beauty Protector’s Protect and Volume Spray and really enjoyed the results. I was pleased to see another one of their products in this month’s box as my hair needed some TLC. This Protect and Detangle spray is a leave-in conditioner which minimises frizz, protects colour, adds shine and of course, leaves hair tangle free. The spray has a lovely sweet scent, which isn’t too overpowering, and makes hair a dream to comb through. It definitely delivers on its promises and I will certainly be using this a lot throughout the Winter months.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle – RRP £18.50
