My First Glossier Order – Review

Any beauty enthusiast will tell you that the most highly anticipated beauty launch in 2017 was the arrival of Glossier to the UK.

Glossier pride themselves on innovation, celebrating real women and putting the fun back into beauty. As well as creating a skincare range they also have an array of make-up items to enhance and celebrate natural beauty. All of their products are free-from parabens, cruelty free and surprisingly, they also have a lot of vegan items too.

All + Bubble

I placed an order last year, and thanks to Rougepout Beauty, not only did I have a lot of recommendations but I also had a 10% discount code. All my items arrived in the pink bubble wrap bag alongside samples and stickers. The promises of these make-up and skincare items really suit my style of cosmetics, as I love subtle and natural make-up looks on an everyday basis, and I was really intrigued to see if Glossier really does live up to the hype…

Boybrow – Brown

Boy

I have quite strong brows so I tend to use minimal brow products just to keep them tamed and under control. Boybrow is the ideal product for me, as not only is the colour a really nice natural brown but the size of the brush makes application really easy and gives you just the right amount of product on the wand. The creamy, wax formula gives hold without making brows look clumpy and crispy and even fills in any gaps of sparse areas with ease. My Mum, who has fair brows, tried this and brought her own – and she loves it as much as I do! I have to say that this is one of the best brow products I’ve used and can see why it is such a bestselling product from the Glossier range!

Available in 4 shades – £14.00

Cloud Paint – Beam

BeamI was excited to try this as I do love a cream blush! This gorgeous gel-cream formula is highly pigmented, so you only need a small amount, and blends out flawlessly to give a subtle flush to the cheeks. As it contains collagen, which retains water, skin looks visibly plumper and hydrated. Beam is a lovely orange/coral shade is really flattering and warms up my pale skin beautifully. I can’t wait to try other shades, especially Dusk, as I’ve been really impressed by both the quality and affordability of Cloud paint.

Stretch Concealer – Light

stretchThis is the best concealer I’ve ever used, and it certainly earned its place on my top ten products of 2017. The reason why this product has made it into my top ten is because it is the only concealer I’ve ever used that didn’t cake on any dryness and is actually light enough on my pale skin (it is much lighter than the photo shows!). The beeswax base allows the concealer to move with the skin (hence the stretch name), and therefore makes it perfect for even the most dry or more mature skin types. The coverage is buildable, and because it doesn’t have any illuminators in it, it’s perfect for covering both blemishes and dark circles. I’ve found that it works best when applied with your finger, as it warms up a little, and then you can always blend it out with a brush if necessary. If you’re looking for a new concealer in 2018, then this is certainly a great place to start!

Available in 5 shades – £15.00

Milky Jelly Cleanser

Milky

I was really excited to try this as i’d heard great things about it and loved the idea of a PH-balanced cleanser which promises to nourish, purify and soothe the skin. However, i’m sad to say that this doesn’t suit my skin at all. It is really effective at cleansing, as it does remove traces of make-up and leave skin feeling clean and fresh, but after 5 minutes, my skin was so tight and dry and within a few hours, my eczema began to breakout. I’ve tried this on a few occasions, with the same result, so unfortunately I won’t be using this any longer. I’m also not a fan of the fragrance, which has a strong soap/floral scent which I just didn’t like at all. I would definitely advise that those with sensitive or dry skin to try a sample of this first just to ensure that your skin is happy with Glossier skincare before you purchase the full-sized product.

£15.00 – Vegan friendly

Lip Gloss

Lip Gloss

I’d seen a few people comment on how good this lip gloss was and couldn’t resist trying it out! The glass-like effect is a dream to apply, thanks to the fluffy doe-foot applicator which picks up just the right amount of product. The clear formula is not sticky, greasy or gritty at all and unlike a lot of glosses I’ve tried in the past, this one actually stays put for hours. The best part is that it contains Vitamin E, so lips feel hydrated and soft too!

£11.00 – Alcohol Free, Hypoallergenic and vegan friendly

All

So my first Glossier order was full of make-up delights and a skincare disappointment. On the whole, I was really pleased with the quality and affordable prices, as well as the great customer service that means i’ll definitely be repurchasing make-up items in the future. Personally, i’ll be steering clear of the skincare products as my skin definitely prefers natural alternatives, yet i’m sure a lot of you will get on absolutely fine with the range. Do I believe that Glossier really lives up to the hype on social media? Yes, I do. I think you’ll be pushed to find cruelty free make-up products as affordable and innovative as Glossier.
