The Natural Beauty Box: February 2019 (Review)

The Natural Beauty Box is among one of my favourite deliveries each month and February’s box was certainly no exception.

The theme of February’s box was Revitalize and contained an array of incredible products from some of my favourite brands. There was also a few new to me brands that I couldn’t wait to explore, and with a total box value of over £70, February’s box was exceptional value for money.

Clean U Skincare: Lip & Cheek Balm

Balms are my skincare saviour, especially through seasonally changes, so I was excited to try this lip and cheek balm from Clean U Skincare. Clean U Skincare are a brand dedicated to the environment as well as natural skincare, as not only are ingredients ethically sourced but the product itself comes in zero waste packaging. Their Lip & Cheek Balm has a fresh and zesty scent and a silky smooth texture that simply melts into the skin. I used this on areas of dry skin around my nose and on my hands, as well as my lips and cheeks, and was impressed by its performance. My skin felt nourished and highly moisturised yet didn’t have the usual appearance of a balm on dry skin, yet surprisingly gave a lovely glossy sheen on my lips. This little tin is a joy to use, especially as a small amount goes an incredibly long way. This brand certainly have a bright future, and I can’t wait to see other products they release throughout the year.

BAO Skincare: Reviving Hand and Body Cream

I’ve been a fan of BAO Skincare since I first discovered them back in August last year, as I fall in love with every product I try. BAO Skincare’s Reviving Hand & Body Cream is the new and improved version of their popular Shea & Mandarin Body Cream which for me, has certainly changed for the better. The heavenly lemongrass scent is uplifting and refreshing and helps to clear the mind and energise the senses. The texture is light yet intensely moisturising and absorbs beautifully into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue. My skin felt soft and smooth all day and the glorious scent also remained for several hours after use. I’ve been using this as both a hand and body cream since my box arrived and my skin has been very happy throughout the changeable weather recently when my skin usually suffers. I love how for such a light formula it is hydrating and gentle enough to soothe my eczema prone skin and areas of sensitivity, and the fast-absorption has made this my go-to hand cream. The recyclable pump-bottle makes for easy application and reduces product wastage by dispensing a small amount at a time. This has certainly reaffirmed my love of the brand and I can’t wait to try more products from the range in the future.

Unearthd Co.: Good on You Organic Skin Repair Oil

I was thrilled to see an Unearthd Co. product in last month’s box as I love their Cast Your Eyes on Me Lash and Brow Serum, which is still part of my nighttime beauty routine. Good On You is a multi-tasking oil formulated to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars and wrinkles; all while softening, hydrating and boosting skin elasticity. The stay-clean pump makes for easy application, as it only dispenses a small amount, and the oil itself comes in a more eco-friendly glass bottle. The oil is intense in colour, with a strong orange hue from the beautiful organic oils within which gives the oil a rich texture that absorbs easily into the skin. The scent is citrus fresh thanks to the addition of mandarin, lemon and bergamot, with neroli and frankincense coming through once the oil is on your body. My skin felt intensely moisturised and had a healthy sheen after use that wasn’t greasy or heavy. I’m currently using it on my arms, as I have some eczema scars that i’d love to fade so i’ll be writing a full review on the results very soon.

The Earth Works Cosmetics: Regenerating Night Treatment

TEWC have been a brand on my radar for a while so I was excited to finally try out one of their products in February’s box. I’m a big fan of night treatments as I find them very beneficial on my dry skin and with the promise of recharging and revitalising the skin while I sleep, the Regenerating Night Treatment sounded like the product for me. The scent is lightly floral, with the natural aroma of rose being the predominant scent as I applied to the skin, The texture is buttery and melts into the skin leaving behind just a hint of a sheen unlike other night creams that are more heavy and greasy in texture. TEWC’s night treatment differs to others i’ve used in the past as you only need to use it once or twice a week, a concept which surprisingly took a little getting used too. I’ve used it on several occasions now and my skin has certainly looked brighter after use but I have still been struggling a little with dry patches caused by the winter weather. However, after incorporating a balm alongside the night treatment, my skin certainly looks and feels better in the morning, but I would probably use this more during the summer months when my skin is less dry. I can’t wait to try more from their extensive range of products, especially as they are based locally to me, as I always like to support local and independent brands where possible.

Evolve Beauty: Nourishing Hair Elixir

I was very excited to see an Evolve Beauty product in February’s box as each time i’ve used one of their skincare products in the past, i’ve always been impressed. I’m always on the look out for great natural haircare products, and thanks to the winter weather, my hair has certainly been in need of some TLC. Evolve Beauty’s Nourishing Hair Elixir is designed to tame frizz and fly away’s while also protecting the hair from environmental damage and moisture loss that can lead to dry and unruly hair. The formula is incredibly lightweight and goes a very long way with just 3-4 drops being an ample amount on my thick, mid-length hair. What I love most is the way in which it can be used on both wet and dry hair, making it as much as a final styling product as a pre-style conditioning treatment. The scent is refreshing with the sweet orange aroma uplifting the spirits and making hair smell incredible throughout the day. I have to say that the results speak for themselves as I have been left with hair that is more manageable and glossy, but is still bouncy and not weighed down. I’ve been reaching for this each time i’ve washed my hair as it makes my hair feel at its best. I have recently purchased a trial sized version of their Superfood Shine Shampoo so I can’t wait to see how the products work together.

February’s edit of The Natural Beauty Box has been a triumph with each product delivering on performance and truly revitalising the skin and hair. The box was full of delights to aid with the final winter blues and set my beauty regime up for the spring. I have loved each product and can’t wait to explore the brands further over the coming months.
