Clockface Beauty: Cleansing Balm, Face Mask and Body Oil (Review)

Clockface Beauty were among my favourite brand discoveries of 2018 as their passion and dedication for great skincare was realised in each product I had the privilege of trying out. Their ethos for transparency and clean beauty is admirable, taking high quality natural and organic ingredients and transforming them into waterless, vegan and cruelty-free products, for both men and women, that harness the power of nature to give you a multi-sensory skin ritual with effective results.

The range of products I tried last year were so impressive that they made a lasting impression and were a huge part of my beauty wish list. So when the brand reached out to see if I would like to try more items from their extensive range, you can imagine my delight. All the products come beautifully packaged in cardboard outer boxes which gives the items a premium feel, while also reducing the amount of packaging needed in the shipping boxes. The products themselves are all housed in glass jars and bottles which are fully reusable and recyclable, and those that do have plastic (pumps, lids and lip balm casings) are again reusable and fully recyclable when washed out.

The three products I received were their Signature Collection Facial Cleansing Balm*, Rhassoul Clay and Vetiver Face Mask* and Enhanced Recovery Body Oil*. Both facial items are unisex products, with the body oil designed purely with women in mind (but don’t worry, there is a recovery oil in their male beauty range too). The way in which the brand offer a separate male line, as well as a unisex range, sets Clockface Beauty apart from many other natural brands on the market as they make their products available to the masses and not just a purely female-target market.

On appearance alone, the packaging certainly reflects the overall aims of the brand, showcasing simplistic, non-nonsense labelling much like the very products held within. The products feel luxurious and high quality, a feeling which is certainly heightened when you begin to utilise each item within your beauty routine.

Clockface Beauty: Enhanced Recovery Body Oil – Clary Sage and Geranium

Clockface Beauty’s Enhanced Recovery Body Oil is more than just your typical skin moisturiser, as the oil is designed for post-exercise to enhance the body’s natural recovery process, as well as relieving tired and aching muscles after a hard days work or day out shopping. The body oil is formulated with only seven ingredients including grapeseed oil, pomegranate seed oil, sweet almond oil and essential oils of clary sage, geranium rose, cypress and rosemary. The oil itself has a beautifully herby quality to it which is uplifting and reduces tension and stress, bringing clarity to the mind as well as the senses. The skin-loving ingredients are rich in antioxidants, anti-aging qualities and are highly nourishing to hydrate, tone and tighten the skin as well as repair and protect the skin from further damage.

Thanks to the lightweight texture of the Enhanced Recovery Body Oil, it not only absorbs into the skin with ease but also won’t clog your pores – making it perfect for all skin types. The calming blend certainly left my skin feeling softer and smoother after use, and it left no greasy or oily residue in its wake. The Enhanced Recovery Body Oil has come in very useful recently after having a Summer Cold which left me with aching muscles, as after a few minutes of massaging the blend into my arms and legs, the feeling of tired limbs was certainly improved. I personally prefer to use this post-shower, as I feel I reap the benefits more on damp skin however it can also be applied directly to the skin after exercise to speed up that recovery process. The oil has been a joy to use and if like me you love lightweight oils with a herby and earthy aroma then Enhanced Recovery Body Oil is certainly the product for you.

Clockface: Face Mask – Rhassoul Clay and Vetiver

There’s certainly no better way to treat the skin that a weekly face mask ritual, and Clockface Beauty’s Rhassoul Clay and Vetiver Face Mask is certainly no exception. The non-drying face mask, which is suitable for all skin types,  contains 8 skin-loving ingredients including rhassoul clay, white clay, argan oil, safflower oil, meadowfoam oil, vitamin e and essential oils of vetiver and rosemary to cleanse, tone, soften and gently exfoliate the skin. The mask is naturally rich in antioxidants, has antiseptic properties, is anti-inflammatory and also boasts anti-aging benefits to keep skin looking and feeling at its best. As well as all these impressive qualities, the formulation also aims to reduce blemishes, scarring and irritation while also deeply moisturising even the driest of skin types.

The mask is a pre-made clay mask which is non-drying, therefore you can apply and not have to worry about damping the mask down while you take 5-minutes of me-time to sit back and relax. The mask has a very earthy aroma that doesn’t smell too heavy in essential oils and sits well on the skin for the duration of the masking time as the texture isn’t too wet. After use, my face certainly felt softer and smoother and the overall appearance of my skin looked brighter and fresher.  The mask didn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry at all and I found that my skincare products absorbed easier after use. The more I used the mask, the more I reaped the benefits as it certainly reduced irritation present across my cheeks and around my nose and aided the dryness on my forehead. It has also improved the appearance of my pores on my chin and nose and generally made my skin look healthier than before I started using it. I have to say that I didn’t think Clockface Beauty could improve on their Green Clay and Rosewood Face Mask I tried last year however for me, I would say that their Rhassoul Clay and Vetiver Face Mask has become a firm favourite at Beauty Folio HQ and is one that will certainly be making its way on my repurchase list in the future.

Clockface Beauty: Signature Collection Facial Cleansing Balm

Cleansing balms are my favourite when it comes to my cleansing routine so I am always excited to try new formulations. Clockface Beauty’s Facial Cleansing Balm from their Signature Collection is a great all-rounder for all skin types, promising to dissolve all traces of dirt, excess oils, make-up and sunscreen, while also being gentle enough to melt away all traces of your mascara too. The deeply nourishing formula will also unblock pores, remove dead skin cells, restore the natural balance of oils, help fight the signs of aging and nourish, protect and condition the skin for a complete cleansing experience. The Signature Collection Facial Cleansing Balm contains an array of ingredients such as avocado butter, rosehip oil, tamanu oil, vitamin e, watermelon oil and rosemary, eucalyptus and chamomile essential oils that give the balm it’s beautiful balm to oil texture that melts on contact with the skin.

The consistency is where Clockface Beauty’s Cleansing Balm differs from many other brands i’ve tried in the past as it’s incredibly lightweight and buttery yet not greasy or thick at all, allowing you to massage it into the skin with ease to reap the wealth of benefits the cleansing balm has to offer. It rinses from the skin beautifully, melting away all traces of the day with it to reveal soft, clean skin that feels incredibly nourished and soothed. The aroma is uplifting and luxurious, balancing emotions and bringing comfort to the mind as well as the skin. What I love most is that despite the lovely spa-like scent, the natural aroma of the butters and oils also come through presenting the fragrances of the organic and natural ingredients exactly as nature intended. Clockface Beauty’s Facial Cleansing Balm is certainly my current favourite and is a true delight to use in both my AM and PM routine as it delivers on all its promises. A small amount of balm goes a very long way, making this amazingly good value for money and a skincare saviour that no one should be without.
