There’s nothing more exciting than a new beauty brand bursting onto the green beauty market; especially when they have a true passion for helping those with problematic skin concerns.
Solo Skin London was born from a personal struggle with problematic skin as well as a love of natural and organic skincare. Naz, the founder of the brand, wanted Solo Skin London to promote the importance of self-care and empower women to feel comfortable in their own skin. She believes that as we only have one skin to last us a lifetime, we should really give it the care and attention it so rightly deserves. As a working Mum to two young daughters, Naz understands how precious time is, and that taking time to pamper yourself is not always easy. That is why she has formulated products that allow your skin to reap the benefits of a long self-care routine without the lengthy process that realistically, we may not be able to achieve.
Despite only having a very small capsule collection, the brand has gone from strength to strength since it launched back in January 2020, with customers experiencing amazing results in a relatively short space of time. The Night Oil, which comes in both a fragranced and fragrance-free option, is handcrafted in micro batches to ensure quality and freshness – something which Naz is incredibly passionate about. The latest member of the Solo Skin London family, a Self-Activating Cleansing Mask, also comes in both a fragranced and fragrance-free option and can be customised at home using a variety of floral waters and oils to get the desired consistency and effect depending on your skin type. All the ingredients used within each formula are natural, organic and each serve a purpose to target a wide variety of skin concerns from dryness and acne to premature aging and irritation. You certainly won’t find any unnecessary ingredients within Solo Skin London’s products as they let the high performance ingredients speak for themselves – and from my recent experience, they most certainly do.
Solo Skin London: Night Oil
I am a huge fan of incorporating overnight products within my skincare routine as deeply nourishing oils and balms, that are slightly too greasy or heavy for daytime wear, can really improve the look and feel of my skin while I sleep. On receiving Solo Skin London’s Night Oil, I was surprised at the texture which is rich yet highly absorbent and not greasy at all. The oil itself is a blend of Meadowfoam seed oil, Rice Bran oil, Broccoli seed oil, Poppy Seed oil, Sweet Almond oil, Sunflower seed oil, Olive Squalene and Cucumber seed oil which are all packed full of essential fatty acids, vitamins and nourishing qualities to leave your skin looking and feeling at its best. I’ve found a little goes an incredibly long way as it has good slip over the skin and despite its absorbent texture, actually leaves skin feeling intensely moisturised – even after a full nights sleep.
What I personally love most about the Solo Skin London’s Night Oil is the scent, containing a blend of sweet orange and rosemary essential oils which is zesty fresh with a slight herby quality that lingers in the background. It is unlike any other overnight oil i’ve used, as I often associate citrus scents with daytime products, yet it is a refreshing change and one which I am enjoying (especially at this time of year).
After using Solo Skin London’s Night Oil for several months, i’ve really noticed how much my skin has been enjoying this overnight treat. My face is noticeably less dry when I wake and looks brighter and plumper in its appearance. Despite experiencing some skin issues recently with the heat and allergies, i’ve still been using this in my PM routine and it has actually soothed my skin and kept the dryness at bay. I even used this on some patches of eczema that were beginning to form and it seemed to calm it down before it fully broke out which was unexpected but certainly welcomed.
It is rare to find a brand that have put all their focus into a capsule collection yet Solo Skin London have achieved so much with their Night Oil formulation, enhancing the skincare routines of those with problematic skin types from acne prone, dry and sensitive to oily, mature and everything in between. The passion and love for great skin is realised within each step of the Solo Skin London experience from the simple yet stylish website and eco-friendly packaging to the stunning products and incredible results. The minimal packaging and chic branding reflects on the no-nonsense approach the brand has for skincare and I am excited to see more from the brand in the future.
