It’s currently Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week, part of The Soil Associations’ Organic September campaign. Organic September is a true celebration of all things organic, raising awareness of the benefits that shopping organic has to offer as well as highlighting the positive impact organic farming has upon the environment.

When it comes to your beauty routine, shopping organic means the products you buy adhere to a certain standard set out by The Soil Association. When you see The Soil Associaion logo, you can be confident that the organic status is confirmed , ensuring there is no grey area when it comes to the quality and sustainability of ingredients or the biodiversity of the natural world around us.

The Soil Association standards you can expect to find in your organic beauty products include:

  • No nanoparticles,
  • No genetically modified ingredients,
  • No parabens or phthalates,
  • No animal testing on ingredients or products,
  • Only contains ingredients grown on a certified organic farm.

While Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week – and Organic September as a whole – shines a light on the reasons why shopping organic is the better option for both the environment and for product performance, it goes far beyond the month of September. The campaign aims to educate consumers on the benefits of organic beauty products and produce so they can make more informed decisions for all 12 months of the year.

The Soil Association Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week - Organic September. Nature would choose organic.

This is why it is important that brands, shops and online showcase the very best of certified organic products, and one of my favourite places to shop organic is Blomma Beauty.

Blomma Beauty are pioneers when it comes to natural, organic and cruelty free beauty, promoting a wide range of independent brands so you are never spoilt for choice. Their range of organic products is impressive and can be found both online at www.blommabeauty.com and in-store at Gabriel’s Wharf (Southbank) and Coal Drops Yard (Kings Cross). They also host a wide variety of events, one of which is happening on Friday 23rd September as part of Blomma Beauty’s Organic September celebrations, with the lovely Kelly & Wendy from Husk and Seed Skincare.

As a natural and organic beauty enthusiast, here are some of my favourite products all certified by The Soil Association. These are all great products for the cooler weather so will make great additions to your Autumn/Winter beauty routines.

BAO Skincare: Recovery Face Cream

A facial moisturiser is a must to keep skin free from dry patches and helps to lock in moisturise from the skin. BAO Skincare’s Recovery Face Cream is different to most, not only containing a blend of beautiful oils and butters for a deeply moisturising formulation but also featuring Hyaluronic Acid to boost hydration too.

As Hyaluronic Acid holds 1000 x it’s own weight in water, it is perfect for helping keep the skin hydrated, especially if you’re out in the wind or sat at home in the central heating. The cream has a lovely light texture, so won’t feel too heavy on the skin, and has a beautiful sweet orange and frankincense aroma which is a treat for the skin and senses alike.

Casa Mencarelli: Bellissima Balm

The silky-smooth Sea Buckthorn Balm from Casa Mencarelli contains a wealth of nourishing ingredients including almond oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, sea buckthorn and beeswax to smooth dry patches, help repair damaged skin and maintain a healthy-looking complexion.

The glorious balm is like sunshine in a jar, with a fruity aroma which has a slightly earthy quality that really treats the senses as well as the skin. The balm has a unique texture that is buttery, melting into the skin to leave behind a subtle, radiant sheen that gives skin a delicate dewy appearance.

Odylique: Repair Lotion

This lovely lightweight Repair Lotion is one of my favourite products from Odylique as it is an essential when my skin is feeling irritated or experiencing an eczema flare-up. The soothing blend of hero-ingredients such as chickweed, chamomile and calendula helps to heal, calm and hydrate irritated skin, helping to reduce the itch and any redness.

The formulation is so lightweight that it absorbs easily into the skin without leaving any greasy residue behind and a little goes a very long way. I personally love this as a hand lotion, as it instantly softens skin yet doesn’t have the heavy, sticky feel of a hand cream.

Silvan Skincare: Bliss Balm

I love Silvan Skincare’s range of balms yet this one was the first I ever tried, and it really ignited my love for the brand. Bliss Balm contains shea butter, jojoba, olive oil and arnica oil to deeply nourish the skin while the addition of Ylang Ylang essential oil is relaxing to the senses. The balm itself is silky smooth and soft, with a small amount of balm going the distance, spreading across the skin with ease and leaving it intensely moisturised yet not greasy at all.

I love how the scent of Ylang Ylang is perfectly balanced and not overpowering, yet remains on the skin for several hours after use. It makes for the perfect massage balm to keep skin in tip top condition and is great to use before bed to help unwind and relax before drifting off to sleep.

Terre Verdi: Acqua Di Rosa Balancing Rose Mist

Terre Verdi’s Balancing Mist is among my favourite facial mists thanks to the refreshing rose water that removes residual make-up after cleansing, balances your skin’s PH level and hydrates and refreshes skin throughout the day.

Acqua Di Rosa has the most beautiful delicate rose aroma that captures the calming properties rosewater has on the skin and senses alike, with no heavy, overpowering rose aroma lingering after use. The anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and soothing benefits rosewater naturally has to offer leaves skin feeling hydrated and refreshed and is also great for mixing powdered clay masks for an additional soothing quality.
