Are you familiar with Plastic-Free July? It’s a global movement which aims to get people to refuse single-use plastics for the whole month of July in order to increase awareness of just how much we rely on single-use plastic within our daily lives. More importantly, the movement aims to showcase how easy it is to make simple switches to reduce plastic pollution and live in a world which is cleaner and safer for communities and wildlife alike.

As July draws to a close, I wanted to share my favourite beauty brands who create incredible products that are innovative and results driven; all while ditching single-use plastic packaging from their entire range and opting for sustainable, recyclable and reusable options. I have found that making small changes within my beauty routine has made a big impact in the amount of single-use plastic I have eradicated from my daily routine, and it is brands such as these, that have made these changes possible…
No Secrets

No Secrets have recently rebranded with a range of solid beauty products that are housed in infinitely recyclable tins. The brand have something for everyone, offering shampoo and body bars, hair conditioners and moisturising body lotion bars in various scents that give great results with every use. Their Solo Shampoo and Body Bars, and their Conditioner Bars, have become staples in my haircare routine recently as they leave my hair looking and feeling at it’s best while also being long-lasting and full of wonderful ingredients.

Leonie Botanics

Leonie Botanics are a brand whose products are a staple in my skincare routine thanks to the unique, sensitive formulations that are palm-oil free, vegan and cruelty-free. They have always been dedicated to environmentally friendly packaging yet their recent rebrand has seen them switch to 100% plastic free, with a refill system that allows you to purchase your products with an aluminium cap, and then simple buy a pump or pipette (if you wish) that you can reuse on future purchases. They also offer a selection of sizes starting from just 10ml, so you can try before you buy full-size and prevent any product wastage.

What I love in particular is how they have tackled the basics of every beauty routine from deodorants and lip balms to soap bars and dry shampoo, allowing you to make the easiest plastic-free swaps without compromising on a user-friendly experience. I personally love their lip balms, but they are also high on my list for gifting as their products are a great way to introduce plastic-free products to beauty novices and enthusiasts alike.

I have been a long-time fan of Silvan Skincare and have always admired their ethical approach to skincare, from the organic and natural ingredients they use to the sustainable and plastic free packaging of their creams, balms and oils. Both their individual products, and their range of gift sets, are all free from any single use plastic – thanks to the use of aluminium tins, lids and refill caps – yet don’t compromise on user experience or aesthetics.
