I am a huge fan of facial oils and they’re always a prominent feature within my skincare routine all year round.
I often feel that there is confusion when it comes to oils, especially as it is often associated with greasiness, and a product which is incompatible with certain skin types. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are so many benefits of using a facial oil which can even benefit even the most oily skin type. Oils are a great way to protect the skin, as they trap essential moisture while keeping toxins and pollutants out – and some can even strengthen your skin’s own natural barrier. They are great on any skin type (providing you find the right one for you), and help reduce the signs of fine lines and wrinkles; they also make for great primers too!
A few months ago, I purchased the lovely Oils of Heaven gift set from http://www.lovelula.com, as I wanted to try the brand as well as finding which oil suited my dry and sensitive skin. I have to say that this set is amazing value for money and a great wait to try out oils without the commitment of purchasing a full sized bottle which may not be right for you.
The five piece set contained the following oils:
Argan Moisture Retention Oil
Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids which are great for repairing and hydrating skin which is dry, damaged, scarred of showing signs of aging. It promises to leave skin glowing, softer and looking more youthful. I have to say that this one was probably my favourite, as I have dry skin, as it had a slightly thicker texture to some of the other oils without being too rich. Despite this, it still absorbs beautifully into the skin and is also fragrance free which I really enjoyed.
Organic Rosehip Cell-Regenerating Nourishing Oil
Rosehip seems to be the buzz oil of the moment, and if my experience with this is anything to go by, I can see why! Rosehip oil is delicate yet powerful and is loved for its fast absorption. It is high in antioxidants and vitamins which helps to encourage cell regeneration as well as stimulating collagen production and improving skin tone and pigmentation. Due to the quick absorption, this is perfect for daytime use. It made my skin look dewy and healthy, which is perfect for this time of year.
Natural Cacay Anti-Aging Face Oil
Cacay is regarded as natures best kept secret, and Oils of Heaven were actually the first ones to bring it to the UK market. It contains more natural retinol than any other oil as well as a wealth of vitamins. Cacay oil is designed nourish the skin while also providing protection from free radicals. Not only this, but it also promotes collagen production, locks in moisture and helps target fine lines. As this one is regarded as a dry oil, it doesn’t leave a residue so is perfect for both AM and PM use.
Natural Moringa Anti-Oxidant Face Oil
The Ancient Egyptians used to use Moringa oil in their beauty routines, and with it’s amazing benefits – you can understand why! Moringa oil contains 90 different nutrients which are proven to have anti-inflammatory properties, natural cleansing abilities and free-radical fighting vitamin A and C. It is a great defence against aging and helps to increase blood flow in order to strengthen cell structure. This means that if you have any scarring, especially acne scars, this would be the best one for you. I personally loved this oil as it was so lightweight, but it also gave me a healthier complexion.
Organic Baobab Rejuvenating Oil
Baobab oil is cold-pressed from a true super fruit which is packed with vitamins and omega fatty acids. These promote protection, hydration and healing which is great for problem skin (prone to eczema, psoriasis and Rosacea). It is also designed to improve elasticity to the skin and protect for free-radicals while also reversing and healing skin damage. I have to say that this really helped my eczema when it flared up and left my skin feeling incredibly soft, smooth and calm. Unfortnately, since purchasing the set, this oil is now discontinued – Within the set, it has been replaced with Marula Oil (which is great for oily and sensitive skin). Oils of Heaven have also released a Rejuvenating oil called Tamanu (sold singly) which is a fantastic moisturising oil that doesn’t clog pores.
My experience with OOH! Oils of Heaven has been fantastic and I can’t recommend the products enough. The gift set, priced at £20, is a great way to experiment with facial oils and determine which one is best for you. They would make the perfect gift for the skincare lover in your life or as a little treat for yourself. I also love that the brand have a range of sizes available in each product so you don’t feel obliged to purchase a large bottle if you’re unsure on what you want from an oil in your beauty regime.
