One of the things I look for most when purchasing new natural skincare products is transparency in both ingredients and brand message, something which Apotheca London have certainly achieved with their skincare range.
Apotheca London are all about simplicity with their product range, from the clean lines of their labelling to the recyclable/reusable packaging and simple ingredient listings on each product. The range is all handmade in small batches to ensure the highest possible quality, with each product produced from sustainable ingredients, certified COSMOS Organic by the Soil Association and completely cruelty free. The brand want to ensure that everyone is aware of what they are putting onto their skin, which is why their ethos is one to be admired and congratulated.
The brand had been on my radar for a while when I was kindly gifted their Rosewater Mist* and Nourishing Face Oil*; two products which were sure to work in harmony within my skincare routine. Due to their brand message I was excited to try these out, especially as floral mists and facial oils are something which I never leave out of my skincare routine.
Apotheca: Rosewater Face Mist
Rosewater is possibly the most utilised floral hydrosol in my skincare routine as its calming yet hydrating properties make it incredibly versatile and beneficial to my dry, dehydrated and sometimes sensitive skin. Apotheca’s Rosewater Mist is very different to the mists I use on a daily basis as not only does it contain the obvious rose flower water but it also contains glycerin, water and phytic acid; which gives this 100% natural face mist balancing and antioxidant properties as well as helping to attract and maintain hydration levels in the skin. The mist itself is beautifully fragrant in rose water yet doesn’t have the overpowering rose scent that many rosewaters have. This is incredibly light and fresh and has been a joy to use after cleansing and to hydrate and cool the skin throughout the day. I have to say that this is one of my favourite rosewater mists i’ve used so far and is already on my repurchase list as soon as it runs out.
Apotheca: Nourishing Face Oil
A face oil is a integral part of my skincare routine and as someone with a dry skin type, this Nourishing Face Oil was music to my ears. The nourishing blend of rosehip, jojoba, borage, apricot, vitamin e, evening primrose and sunflower oils gives this facial oil its lightweight, antioxidant rich formula which is highly absorbent and deeply moisturising. The oil also contains sweet orange, neroli and ylang ylang essential oils to provide a mood-boosting aroma that is perfectly balanced, bringing a calming quality to treat the senses as well as the skin. A few drops of oil provides instant moisturisation without any greasy residue and can also give an added boost of hydration to your foundation to give a dewy canvas and smooth base. My current favourite way to use Apotheca’s Nourishing Face Oil is as a booster in my daily moisturiser and weekly masking ritual, as it gives the additional level of moisture needed to keep skin looking and feeling nourished and fresh all day. I used this in both my AM and PM routine for several weeks and I was impressed by it’s overall performance. Not only did it make my skin feel soft and smooth but it also left my complexion looking fresh and glowing. The best news is that the formulation is so effective in it’s nourishing benefits, that a few drops per application is all you need making it amazingly good value for money.
My first experience with Apotheca London’s products has certainly been positive, as the quality of the products and simplistic nature of the brands ethos makes them a brand to watch in the future. I have loved integrating these into my skincare routine and they have certainly exceeded my initial expectations, as both their short term and long term effects have been impressive. Once more, they have new releases coming soon so make sure you check out their website and social feeds for more information.
