There’s nothing more exciting to a beauty enthusiast than a brand releasing limited edition products to celebrate a particular season or holiday, especially when it brings together the scent and aromas of the year and brings back memories of a particular time in your life.
Okiki Skincare have released a range of Gin & Tonic scented products to celebrate World Gin Day throughout June, which i’m sure during these unprecedented times will evoke memories of socialising with friends and loved-ones without a 2m distance between us. The range, which will be removed from the collection at the end of the month, includes everything from a Gin & Tonic candle and body lotion to a body wash and soap bar. Okiki Skincare kindly sent me a bottle of their Gin & Tonic Hand/Body Lotion to try and so far, first impressions have been great.
The Gin & Tonic Hand/Body Lotion comes in a striking blue, recyclable plastic bottle with a pump dispenser for easy application. As an affordable product, retailing at just £12/150ml, I wasn’t surprised that it came in plastic rather than eco-friendly glass and I have to say that the plastic components are sturdy enough to re-use for liquid soap or shampoo refills after use.
The lotion itself is formulated with skin loving ingredients such as hemp seed oil, argan oil, safflower oil, shea butter and sweet almond oil and has a rich, nourishing texture which isn’t greasy or heavy on the skin. The addition of antioxidant-rich juniper berry helps to heal and repair damaged skin, and paired with lemon peel, gives the lotion its signature fresh and crisp Gin & Tonic aroma.
I’ve been using this for a little over a week now and have to say that the lotion absorbs beautifully and leaves my skin feeling softer, smoother and intensely nourished after use. I find that I don’t need a lot of product to experience great results and my skin remains nourished throughout the day despite my dry skin type. What I love most is the way the scent evolves on the skin, initially having the balanced juniper berry and lemon aroma which becomes more citrus-fresh over time. It is a refreshing scent which is ideal for this time of year, and although i’m not personally a Gin & Tonic drinker, I feel this is the perfect nod to World Gin Day.
