I have been a Soap Folk fan from the moment I used my first bar back in 2018 and they have been a brand that I have repurchased on several occasions. You can imagine my delight when they recently launched their new Calendula Soap, an essential oil free bar that is formulated with sensitive and dry skin in mind.

Calendula is a beautiful ingredient and is actually among my favourites thanks to its long-lasting soothing benefits that really help to reduce discomfort and calm irritation. This is what makes Soap Folk’s new Calendula Soap so special, as not only is it great on sensitive skin but it is also beneficial for hands suffering from excessive hand washing and alcohol hand sanitiser use as we continue our fight against Covid-19.

Soap Folk’s Calendula Soap is made from 70% olive oil, which has been steeped in calendula, cocoa butter and calendula petals using the cold-pressed method – a process which is how all the soaps in Soap Folk’s range are created. The vegan-friendly formulation gently cleanses the skin while preventing it from drying out, something which sounded like the perfect soap for me and my dry skin type.

I started using this soap during the warmer weather when my skin was suffering from an allergy induced eczema flare-up and was feeling out of sorts. The bar lathered very well, forming a creamy lather and leaving skin feeling clean yet intensely moisturised.  It was a great soap to use when my skin was irritated, thanks to it’s calming properties, yet the texture of the lather made it a nourishing treat for my dry skin and gave great slip when shaving. I really enjoyed the light, herbal aroma of the calendula petals that are speckled throughout the soap which made a nice change from bars that rely on essential oils to give them their unique scent. The bar is a lot softer than others i’ve tried from the range thanks to its high olive oil content, so be sure to dry it thoroughly between uses to make it last longer.

The quality and performance of Soap Folk’s Calendula Soap has been exceptional, yet not at all surprising considering how amazing each soap is from their range. I love the way in which the soaps really deliver amazing results each time, are beautifully presented in recyclable (and reusable) packaging and contain natural and certified organic ingredients.  What I love even more about the brand is the amount of purchase options they have as not only does each bar come in a full-sized version, but you can now buy them in mini, travel sized bars too. They also have various gifting options from gift boxes, soap bundles and the new service that allows you to either purchase greeting cards to write and send to a loved one with their gift, or alternatively, send a handwritten greeting card and gift to the lucky recipient directly from Soap Folk.
