|Gifted| If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s just how important our self-care rituals are for our mental health and overall wellbeing. Taking a few moments out of our day is so important as we adjust to a new type of normal and with the Winter setting in, now is the perfect time of year to start taking self-care even more seriously…

If you’ve read my Natural Skincare Christmas Gift Guide this year, you may have noticed a beautiful self care treat from Origins of Beauty. Origins of Beauty are an online ethical and wellness store, celebrating conscious beauty with an extensive range of cruelty-free brands, with products spanning across skincare, hair care, cosmetics, wellbeing and much more. They have just launched their first branded product in the form of a Self Care Ritual Kit, a gift set which features some beautiful products guaranteed to upgrade that special someone’s self-care routine over the festive period – or even as a special treat for your own wellness collection.

The Self Care Ritual Kit contains five beautiful products housed in a cotton, drawstring bag with affirmation card and mini gift card which can be hand-written for the lucky recipient. The attention to detail in the Self Care Ritual Kit is incredible, with a range of sizes and product types to create the most perfect, relaxing and restful self-care ritual you well and truly deserve…

An affirmation card is a lovely addition to the Self Care Ritual Kit

ELYTRUM: Small Sisal Body Brush

You may be new to the body brushing ritual but once you start, you are guaranteed to fall in love with the positive health and skin benefits body brushing can achieve. Body brushing is designed to not only gently exfoliate the skin but it also helps to increase circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, reduce the appearance of cellulite and promote skin that looks brighter and healthier after use.

Now I have to be honest and say that i’ve had a few negative experiences of body brushing in the past as the brushes I tried were so harsh, they actually left my skin incredibly sore. Elytrum had been on my wish list for a while so I was incredibly excited to see their small sisal body brush appear in the Selfcare Ritual Kit and am pleased to report a vast change in my experience.

The brush itself has a lovely wooden handle and is ergonomically easy to hold and use, allowing you to work easily around the contours of your body. The brush, which is handmade from ethically sourced plant fibres is firm yet is soft compared to others i’ve used, so doesn’t irritate or scratch the skin but is still highly effective. After use, my skin felt nicely exfoliated and smoother to the touch, with my skincare penetrating the skin much easier after bathing. It has now become an integral part of my usual pre-shower/bath ritual that I couldn’t be without as my skin looks glowing and feels incredibly soft. Elytrum are certainly a great brand that I can’t wait to explore further in the not-so-distant future.

Ilapothecary: Beat the Blues Room Spray

I had heard so many great things about Ilapothecary’s Beat the Blues Room Spray so was excited to try it for myself. The spray is a blend of rose geranium, petitgrain, sweet orange, clary sage and tuberose absolute to help clear an atmosphere and create an uplifting yet peaceful environment, while also promoting self-belief with the fortifying formulation.

The Beat the Blues Room Spray has the most beautiful floral scent in the first instant, with the herby, citrus aromas creating an uplifting yet slightly sweet scent as it begins to settle into the room. The scent lingers, with just 1-2 sprays filling the room with a beautiful aroma that is perfectly balanced and not overpowering, and doesn’t dissipate quickly like other mists i’ve used in the past. I personally find it particularly useful when i’m working, as it helps to clear my mind and bring a sense of calm in stressful situations, but it would be great for on-the-go too.

What I love most is its versatility, as not only is it a great room spray but can also be used on pillows, curtains, wardrobes and drawers. After using this for a few weeks, I can certainly see why it has so many positive reviews and celebratiy fans as it really is an effective product that is sure to be an asset to your mental wellbeing.

Bramble and Blossom: Calming Bath Salts

When it comes to bath time treats, bath salts are by far my favourite with benefits for the both the skin and overall wellbeing, they are the ultimate relaxing treat. Bramble and Blossom are another brand that had been on my wishlist for a while so I was excited to finally try them out.

The Calming Bath Salts come in a biodegradable, resealable pouch for ease of use and are handmade in the UK with sustainably sourced sea salt. The bath salts are formulated to help you unwind and combat feeling of anxiousness, something which couldn’t be more perfect in the current climate.

The essential oil blend of rose, bergamot, ylang ylang and grapefruit give the salts the most beautiful scent, with an initial, soothing sweet floral aroma that becomes more uplifting as the citrus notes begin to come to the forefront. The scent is perfectly balanced, with neither scent overpowering the others and is lovely treat for the senses. I love how the salts are finely milled, so dissolve into your running bath with ease, leaving the water feeling softer with no gritty residue left in the tub. After a relaxing soak, my skin was left feeling incredibly supple and nourished while smelling ever so delicately of the beautiful blend that made these bath salts an absolute triumph.

Scence: Natural Lip Balm (Fresh Mint)

Lip balms are an essential item within our beauty routines, even more so during the Winter months, so i’m always excited to try a new-to-me brand – especially one as ethical as Scence. The Fresh Mint Natural Lip Balm comes in plastic-free packaging and contains some beautiful ingredients including organic coconut oil, mango butter, organic jojoba oil, vitamin e and peppermint essential oil.

The size and shape is larger than my usual lip balms, however I actually found it incredibly easy to apply, especially when on the go without a mirror. It has a lovely soft texture that glides onto lips leaving behind a subtle sheen that has a good staying power. The fresh mint scent is a lovely addition, not only giving the lip balm a fresh aroma but also giving lips a very subtle tingle.

I love how moisturising this balm is, as it keeps my lips feeling soft and smooth even when outside in the elements or indoors in the central heating. This beautiful lip balm is a great addition to the self care ritual kit and my own beauty routine. It has kept chapped lips at bay and is lasting a great amount of time despite it’s 8.5g size. The best news is that if peppermint isn’t for you, there is an option to select the brand’s Jojoba Pure version in the Origins of Beauty Self Care Ritual Kit.

Lena Wild: Harmony Bloom Oil

I am a huge fan of facial oils within my own skincare routine and Lena Wild’s Harmony Bloom Oil has been on my wishlist for some time. The Harmony Bloom Oil is formulated with oily, combination, imbalanced and spot-prone skin in mind but is suitable for most skin types due to the nutrient-rich ingredients. The oil contains some truly beautiful, CO2 extracted Nordic Berries and wild-harvested plant oils, 96% of which are organic, to help balance and comfort the skin while boasting a more radiant complexion.

As someone with a dry and dehydrated skin type, with areas of irritation from the seasonal change, I was excited to see exactly what Harmony Bloom could do for my own skin type. The oil itself is lightweight, with only a few drops going an incredibly long way. The formulation absorbs into the skin beautifully, leaving behind a subtle, healthy sheen that isn’t greasy or heavy on the skin. Immediately after application, my complexion was glowing and looked dewy in it’s appearance and my skin felt nicely moisturised. After a few days, my skin began to reap the benefits of the stunning ingredients as irritated patches felt calmer and looked less red, my skin looked brighter in it’s appearance and this sample size really left me longing for more. If you’re looking for a little luxury in your skincare routine then Lena Wild’s Harmony Bloom Oil may just be the one for you.

It is safe to say that Origins of Beauty’s first branded product has been a triumph, with some stunning products that have really updated my own self-care routine for the better. I have loved my experience with each product, discovering some beautiful brands that I can’t wait to explore further. It is easy to see why this Self Care Ritual Kit recently featured in Natural Health Magazine, as the set really does leave a lasting impression making it a great choice for green beauty enthusiasts and skincare lovers alike, whether gifting it for the festive season or treating yourself to well-deserved pampering session.
