Raven Botanicals: Ubtan Ritual Cleansing Scrub Review

|AD – Pr Product| I love when products go beyond simple skincare and instead promote a ritual which takes beauty to a whole new level. That is exactly what Raven Botanicals’ collaboration with food writer and broadcaster Sumayya Usmani provides, with a family recipe that is rooted in heritage and tradition and leaves skin looking and feeling it’s best with every use.

The Ubtan Ritual Cleansing Scrub was inspired by Sumayya Usmani’s South Asian heritage, whereby ancient recipes containing edible ingredients such as spices, herbs and natural resins and minerals are used to pamper a bride weeks in advance of her wedding day.

Ubtan is one of these preparations, with a mix of herbs, fruits, spices, pulses, woods, resins and nuts, made bespoke according to the bride’s skin type and particular season. It is this age-old tradition that was the catalyst for Raven Botanicals collaboration with Sumayya, with a skincare product that is suited to most skin types and can be made into a paste with water alone, or blended with ingredients such as honey and yoghurt that are easily obtainable.

The blend contains sandalwood, rose petals, turmeric, lentils, oats, fennel seeds and orange peel to help brighten the complexion while helping to calm irritation, improve hyperpigmentation and soften the skin.

For me, the Ubtan Scrub is a self-care ritual that provides a sensory experience like no other, not only benefiting the skin but also the mind and soul too. Not only does the Ubtan Scrub help to exfoliate and soften the skin, but the process of mixing the mask and being part of the ancient ritual certainly makes the process feel indulgent, decadent yet incredibly pampering.

My skin is always left feeling revitalised and radiant after use, with the additional benefits of the base used to mix the Ubtan Scrub to the correct consistency. For my dry skin type, my favourite ingredients to blend the Ubtan Scrub with are honey, yoghurt and floral hydrosols such as rose and chamomile, as they each provide benefits for my skin depending on the season and skin concerns at the time of masking.

If you’re looking for a new exfoliating mask to elevate your selfcare ritual, then I highly recommend trying Raven Botanicals Ubtan Scrub as it really is a treat for the skin and senses alike.
