August has well and truly flown by – I feel like I’ve blinked and missed it! Luckily, I have managed to review my Birchbox before the month ends and thankfully, there were some great items included this time and I couldn’t wait to get testing!
This month’s themed box was ‘Mermaid Vibes’, which not only meant a beautiful box design but also an array of mermaid inspired products to make your summer truly magical.

Now if you’ve read my last blog post, you’ll already know that one of these products was a big no-no for me and I wouldn’t be trying it out on this occasion. If you’re a newbie visitor, you’ll have to wait and see which product just wasn’t for me…
Now onto the products!

Spectrum Collections A05 Brush in Bombshell

I do love Spectrum brushes and was thrilled to get this pretty pink one in my box. Due to the size, shape and density, it is the perfect brush to multi-task with as you could use it for blusher, powder, contour or even foundation. Personally, I love it to apply my blusher as it fits perfectly on the apples of the cheeks. A great brush that is both stylish and practical – a big thumbs up from me!

Spectrum Collections Brush Set in Bombshell or Glam Clam RRP – From £59.99

LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Rock Steady

I’m not usually a Smokey eye fan, so I wasn’t too thrilled with the colour shadow stick I received; that was until I tried it! This versatile shadow stick is not only great to give a wash of intense colour over the lid with no fuss or effort, but it can also be used as a liner too. This gorgeous brown shade, which appears grey in certain lights, offers both a creaseless and waterproof coverage which lasts up to 11 hours. I also really liked how you can blend it out for a softer look if desired. With a great formula and concept for an amazing price – what’s not to love?

LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Rock Steady or Out of Your Shell RRP – £8.00

Number 4 Sugar Texturizing Spray

This was the first time I’d ever used a sugar spray and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. If, like me, you’re not a fan of salt sprays which leave hair feeling slightly crispy and dry, then this is a great alternative which gives shine and hold to natural waves. It also stops hair from losing volume and going limp in hot and humid conditions – so it’s perfect for the changeable British weather! If you’re looking for a new hair hero, then this might just be the product for you!

Number 4 Sugar Texturizing Spray – RRP £20.00

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer

I’m already a fan of Nuxe dry oils as their versatility and results are incredible. This shimmer oil is lovely and light and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth without a greasy residue. The golden shimmer is lovely for this time of year and really catches the sunlight beautifully. I like to use this on my legs and on my cheekbones as a subtle highlighter. It is also great to use on your hair as well as your face and body and is a product which seamlessly combines both versatility and luxury.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil Shimmer – RRP £20.00

St. Tropez Self Tan Express Face Sheet Mask

Finally, this month’s product that I won’t be testing is the St. Tropez tanning sheet mask. I won’t bore you with my experience again (but if you missed it, you can check it out here). What I will say is take care of how long you keep this on, and how you apply it, especially if you’re pale!

St. Tropez Self Tan Express Face Sheet Mask – RRP £15.00

I have to say that I’ve loved the variety of products featured in my Mermaid Vibes box, especially as it has lead me to discover some new brands. The Spectrum Brush has certainly been the highlight of this month and I can’t wait to discover what lies ahead in September’s box.

Have you signed up to Birchbox yet? What was your favourite product in this month’s box?

Take Care, Emma @ Beauty Folio x
