The Natural Beauty Box: October 2018

When I heard that October’s The Natural Beauty Box was in collaboration with Rare Beauty, I could not contain my delight. Rare Beauty are one of my favourite online stores for natural skincare, and boast a wide range of products from women-led brands that are all reviewed by their trusted residents.

The Dreamy Days themed-box contained some amazing products and ticked off a few that had been on my wish list for a while. With an incredible box value of £65.95, it is no surprise that this box sold out in record time!

Freyaluna: Geranium and Ylang Ylang Gentle Shampoo

This gorgeous Gentle Shampoo from Freyaluna is already a firm favourite here at Beauty Folio HQ as it really does work wonders. Not only is it incredibly effective at cleansing hair and soothing irritated scalps but it also nourishes tresses from root to tip. What I love about this particular bottle is that the packaging is completely zero waste thanks to the incorporation of a cork stopper. This is a great move by Freyeluna and is an option I will definitely be purchasing again. I originally thought the cork stopper would make for awkward application, yet it is actually just as easy as a plastic screw cap. If you’d like to see my full review of my Freyaluna experience, then check out my previous review here.

Myroo: OM Body Oil

There is nothing I love more than a versatile beauty products, and Myroo’s OM Oil is certainly an all-rounder. This bath, body and massage oil is perfect for post-exercise, as the essential oil blend is designed to ease tired and aching muscles. The oil itself, made with rosehip, jojoba and safflower oil, is intensely nourishing on the skin yet non-greasy and highly absorbent. The scent is gorgeously light and fresh,  with a zesty and herby quality which is great for unwinding the mind. A little goes a long way, making it amazingly good value for money, and certainly a product that will see you into the Winter months. This experience has once again reaffirmed my love of Myroo products as they continually wow me with their high quality and effective skincare products.  If you’d like to see my thoughts on other Myroo products, you can find them all here.

Soap Folk: Lavender and Oatmilk Soap

I have been wanting to try Soap Folk for a while now and despite having already purchased two bars, I still hadn’t got around to trying them out.  I was excited to see the Lavender and Oatmilk soap feature in October’s box as it sounded like the perfect product as the weather gets cooler and skin gets drier. The packaging of Soap Folk soap bars is beautiful, and is completely zero-waste.  The size and shape of the soap is great, as the light lavender scent is not overpowering at all and certainly leaves the mind calmer and less tense. It lathers incredibly well, with the addition of oatmilk helping to  form a rich and creamy lather that leaves even the most sensitive and problematic skin soft and moisturised. After this experience, I cannot wait to try more Soap Folk bars as this was not only a joy to use and but is also an effective (and affordable) way to eradicate plastic from your skincare routine.

Oilixia Skincare: Australian Kakadu Plum Gummy Facial Cleanser

20181117_134244.jpg

Oilixia Skincare’s Gummy Cleanser has been on my wish list from the moment that it first launched on Rare Beauty as this innovative product, with its unique texture, has endless positive reviews across social media. The texture is thick and sticky from the tube, yet feels weightless when applied to the skin and stippled to activate its dirt and make-up trapping quality. Followed by a massage with wet hands, the cleanser turns milky, allowing you to rinse with a simply splash of water – no face cloth required! My skin felt clean, smooth and incredibly fresh after use and I didn’t experience any dryness at all. The lovely sweet scent makes for a treat for the skin and the senses, and is a change from the usual citrus or fragrance-free cleansers I usually purchase. The best news is that thanks to the natural phenolic acid in the Kakadu Plum extract, Oilixia Skincare’s Gummy Cleanser also works as an exfoliating multipurpose mask – just by leaving on the skin for a further 5-10 minutes. I feel that Oilixia’s cleanser makes the perfect cleanser for when you’re in a hurry, on-the-go or travelling, as the lack of cloth needed is perfect for when you don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to your cleansing routine. This is a brand I can’t wait to explore further, as they have certainly excited me with their unique formula that truly changed up my skincare routine.

Bloom Remedies: Serenity Slumber Hand and Body Wash

I’ve recently tried a few products from Bloom Remedies (reviews coming soon), so I was delighted to discover another in October’s box. The Serenity Slumber Hand and Body Wash is a delight to use, from the scent and performance to the all-round treat for the senses. With the sweet, calming aroma from the ylang ylang, geranium, patchouli and cedarwood, this makes for the perfect evening body wash. The wash itself is low-foaming and leaves skin feeling clean, soft and not dry at all. I’ve used it on various occasions and am surprised at how little product i’ve used. I absolutely love how affordable it is, and will certainly be purchasing more products from Bloom Remedies in the not-so-distant future.

Finally, for those of you who follow me, you might have noticed that I didn’t have my faithful friend to help me reveal last month’s box. He was feeling a little sorry for himself following a trip to the vets however he’ll be ready to help out with this month’s box i’m sure!

Take Care,
