The Natural Beauty Box in January was perfect for the new year and certainly contained some amazing brands and products that fitted the ‘Cosy Night In’ theme perfectly.

I am always impressed by the variety of products and brands featured in The Natural Beauty Box as each month as I always discover some amazing natural and cruelty-free brands that truly change my beauty routine.

January’s box had a total value for £60.00, and featured a total of 7 lifestyle and skincare products in a range of sample and full-sizes. Everything was beautifully packaged as always, and arrived promptly after dispatch. There were some new-to-me brands, as well as some old favourites, and I also managed to knock a few items off my ever-growing wish list…

Lunar & Lux: Mama Moon Candle

A cosy night in wouldn’t be complete without a candle burning in the background so I was thrilled to see Lunar & Lux’s best seller Mama Moon candle in January’s box. The hand-poured, vegan soy wax candle not only provides clean burning but also contains a beautiful blend of lavender and chamomile essential oils for a calming scent which is proven to relax and soothe the mind, especially when burned in the evening before bedtime. The candle comes with botanicals scattered across the top of the candle which gives a beautiful aroma when you first open the jar. Even though these must be removed before burning, it makes the candle so visually attractive and aromatic that it makes the Mama Moon candle the perfect gift. The scent of the candle is rich in lavender and fills the room with a light lavender fragrance that is intense yet not overpowering at all. Lunar & Lux’s Mama Moon is a delight to use, and with an array of sizes, scents and wick options available in their extensive range of products, it certainly won’t be the last time I use a Lunar & Lux product.

Lunar & Lux Mama Moon Candle: £8.49/4oz – £24.99/17oz (based on a cotton wick)

Meadow Skincare: Gentle Nourishing Cleansing Balm

I was so excited to see a cleansing balm feature in this month’s box, especially from a brand that was new to me, as they have certainly been amongst my must-have items through the Winter months. Meadow Skincare’s Gently Nourishing Cleansing Balm has a beautiful soft, buttery texture that melts into the skin with ease. The scent is heavenly,  with a subtle lavender fragrance with citrus undertones to give a soothing yet uplifting aroma that really treats the senses as well as the skin. My skin certainly felt fresher and incredibly soft after first use, and continued to do so for several applications. The balm is the epitome of what a cleansing balm should be, from the scent and texture to the beautiful results that certainly gave a deep cleanse and made my complexion look brighter and moisturised after use. Meadow Skincare’s Gently Nourishing Cleansing Balm is definitely one for the wish list, and I certainly cannot wait to try more from the brand themselves.

Meadow Skincare:  Overnight Replenishing Oil

Face Oils have become a staple within my skincare routine so I am always pleased to try an overnight oil to change up my nightly routine. Meadow Skincare’s Overnight Replenishing Oil contains some of my favourite skin-loving ingredients such as Prickly Pear Oil, Watermelon Seed Oil and Tomato Seed Oil, to protect, nourish and hydrate the driest of skin types. The antioxidant and omega rich oil has a thick texture yet surprisingly absorbs beautifully into the skin, setting it apart from many other overnight oils on the market. The frankincense scent brings a touch of luxury into your evening skincare routine and was a lovely treat for the senses.  In the morning, my skin was certainly brighter and felt soft to the touch but I still experienced a few dry patches around my nose and on my forehead. As I have very dry skin, I incorporated a balm on my problem areas alongside the Overnight Replenishing Oil and really enjoyed the results. I love how a little product goes a long way and that the oil absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. Even though it worked well on my dry skin, I would say that it would be more beneficial for less dry skin types or would work better for me in the warmer months. Both experiences with Meadow Skincare within January’s The Natural Beauty Box has been incredibly positive and has certainly left me wanting to try more from their handmade natural beauty range in the future.

Pure Purpose: Hemp Masque

I am already a huge fan of Pure Purpose products, from their coffee scrub which featured in May’s Natural Beauty Box to their Lemon Fresh Deodorant which was my go-to summer essential. The Hemp Masque has been on my wish list for a while so it was a welcome addition to the first box of the year. The Hemp Masque is formulated with Aloe Vera and Pomegranate extracts to give a hydration boost while also soothing and calming  the skin. The mask is very thick in texture, and has a relatively sticky consistency compared to the face masks I usually use, yet it spreads across the skin with ease and feels very comfortable on the face. I was concerned that it was going to be difficult to remove, however it wiped of the skin easier than my usual face masks and left my skin feeling soft, smooth and incredibly hydrated. My complexion even looked somewhat brighter and I didn’t have any irritation or dry patches after removal. What I loved most about this mask was the scent, which had a citrus-fresh aroma that was uplifting and refreshing. Due to the fragrance and the feel of the mask on my skin, I think this will become my go-to mask during the Summer months as I imagine the texture and fragrance of the mask itself will cool and refresh any heat-induced skin irritations. Pure Purpose have certainly impressed me yet again and I can’t wait to try even more from their range.

Green People: Quinoa & Calendula Hand/Body Lotion

20190210_113420.jpgGreen People are a brand that I always have confidence in, as they are a reliable beauty brand that never fail to deliver on performance with their range that accommodates everyone. As many of you know, I love a multi-purpose product so a hand and body lotion in one sounded like the perfect product for me. The Quinoa & Calendula lotion, from the brand’s Superfood range, has a lightweight texture that rubs into the skin easily and doesn’t leave any residue on the surface. The scent is fresh, with a citrus undertone which is pleasant and remains on the skin after use. It leaves my dry skin feeling intensely nourished,  silky smooth and highly moisturised. Even though I’ve been loving this as a body lotion, i’ve found myself reaching for it as a hand cream even more, as it doesn’t have the tackiness that other hand lotions have and has even helped to soothe my dry patches of eczema during the cooler weather. I rarely use a lotion, especially through the Winter, as I don’t feel like they have the moisturising qualities that oils and butters have yet I have certainly changed my thoughts after using Green People’s Quinoa & Calendula Hand & Body Lotion. The performance and long-lasting results have impressed me so much that I have since purchased more products from the Superfood range – so don’t forget to check back soon to see a full review.

Green People: Quinoa & Calendula Handy/Body Lotion – £12.00/100ml or 20.00/200ml

Lola’s Apothecary: Sweet Lullaby Souffle

Lola’s Apothecary have been a brand on my radar for a while so I couldn’t wait to try their Sweet Lullaby Body Souffé in the latest box. Sweet Lullaby is a body soufflé with a glorious whipped texture, much like a mousse in consistency, which rubs into the skin effortlessly leaving behind a healthy radiance without any stickiness. The scent is heavenly, with the predominant aroma of sweet orange and ylang ylang giving the senses a well-deserved pamper during application. The scent doesn’t dissipate quickly, but gives the skin a delicate fragrance which lasts for several hours. It didn’t take me long to use this sample, as I found myself reaching for it everyday until the pot was empty and I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase as it left my skin so soft and nourished, and felt like a true pampering experience to use.

Made by Coopers: Sleepy Head Beauty Balm

Made by Coopers is another brand among my favourites, as my past experience with the brand has only been a positive one. The Sleepy Head Beauty Balm is designed to calm and relax your mind and body with the blend of frankincense and lavender. It can be used as a pulse point treatment, massaged on the wrists and temples to help you drift off into a peaceful sleep. Alternatively, it can also be used as a beauty balm, thanks to the nourishing shea butter and hemp oil that soothes, softens and heals dry or irritated skin. It is the perfect all rounder for this time of year when skin needs some TLC and sleep patterns are often a little off. I had a cold recently and this really helped around my nose to stop irritation when blowing my nose and was great to apply to any dry patches on my face from being indoors with the central heating. This is the perfect handbag product for on-the-go beauty emergencies and is the perfect solution for relaxation.

Made By Coopers: Sleepy Head Beauty Balm – £6.00/10g or £15.00/60g

This month’s box was the perfect remedy for the New Year and has certainly been one of my favourites to date. I have never been disappointed by the quality, value for money and brands featured in The Natural Beauty Box as each box is so perfectly tailored to a theme and contains items that natural beauty enthusiasts can truly appreciate. The Natural Beauty Box is the epitome of what a beauty box should be, as it is a great way to discover new products from brands you might not have experienced otherwise. Why not check out which brands subscribers listed as their top ten discoveries from The Natural Beauty Box during 2018?  It is great to see so many small UK brands on the list getting the recognition they deserve, especially as there were a few of my favourites amongst the top ten.

Have you tried any of these products?

Take Care,

Emma @ Beauty Folio x
