Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box: September 2019 (First Impressions)

This month’s Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box was the first bi-monthly delivery since the monthly subscription service was scrapped in July. I have to say that judging by September’s box, Skin Organics certainly made the right decision in moving to bi-monthly plans as this month’s box is among some of my favourites, featuring some brands I know and love as well as knocking a few items off my forever-growing wish list.

The Organic September box, which supported the ‘one small swap can make a world of difference’ initiative, contained five products all certified by The Soil Association . The range of products and the brands featured within September’s box, and the re-appearance of the white presentation box, shows that even though Skin Organics has made a change, they are certainly better than ever.

Terre Verdi: FranChouliPom Facial Serum

I am always a huge fan of Terre Verdi products as each one I try never fails to impress. FranChouliPom Facial Serum boasts an impressive list of ingredients including argan and pomegranate oil and Patchouli and Frankincense essential oils. Formulated with dry and mature skin in mind, the blend couldn’t have been more perfect for my skin type which was certainly in need of some deep nourishment as the seasons begin to change.

The rich serum has a surprisingly lightweight texture that leaves skin feeling silky smooth and intensely nourished in an instant. The scent is luxurious yet is still perfectly balanced, giving off the subtle aroma of the essential oils from the bottle, yet allowing the natural scent of the organic oils to come through on application. The serum has worked in harmony with my other skincare products, aiding my existing skincare in battling the seasonal change which usually reaps havoc on my skin.

Despite only using this facial serum for a short period of time, my skin is already reaping the benefits. I’m excited to see how FranChouliPom performs over a longer period of time as the results have certainly wowed me so far.

Lovegrove Essentials: Toning Mist

Lovegrove Essentials have been on my radar for quite some time so I was finally glad try one of their products. I am a big fan of utilising floral waters within my skincare routine as toning is a step that I never skip. Lovegrove Essentials’ Toning Mist combines rose, lavender and geranium floral waters, alongside skin loving witch hazel to tone, clarify and refine all skin types. The toner smells heavenly, a refreshing floral blend that not only works great as a toner but also as a make-up setting spray, eye mist, hydrating facial spritz and revitalising foot and leg mist to revive aching and tired limbs.

I have to say that I don’t usually utilise witch hazel products within my skincare routine as I often find the products a little too drying on my already dry skin type, however Lovegrove Essentials proved me wrong. Their toning mist didn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight but also left it feeling fresh, soft and hydrated. Even though it integrated well within my existing routine, this generous sample size actually lives in my handbag for on-the-go application, as I found it more beneficial for me to use throughout the day to refresh my skin and my eyes – especially if i’ve been doing a lot of computer work.

My experience so far has certainly made me excited to try more products from their product range in the not-so-distant future as their Toning Mist has certainly been a joy to use.

Lovegrove Essentials: Toning Mist – £4.00 – £29.00

Casa Mencarelli: Crema Di Pomodoro – Tomato Night Cream and Cleanser

I am already a big Casa Mencarelli fan so was very excited to see Crema Di Pomodoro make an appearance in this month’s box – especially as it made my wish list one product lighter! I am fast becoming a huge fan of tomato and carrot- based products within my skincare routine and Casa Mencarelli’s Tomato Night Cream and Cleanser was certainly no exception. Rich in antioxidants, lycopene, vitamins, carotene’s, phytosterols and essential fatty acids, Crema Di Pomodoro is sure to promote a healthy, radiant complexion while softening and smoothing the skin.

This multitasking wonder has the most beautiful texture, as the silky smooth balm glides across the skin with ease, melting away all traces of dirt, impurities, spf (and even make-up) to leave skin feeling clean and fresh without any dryness or tightness. The delicate and natural aroma of tomato and carrot make a welcome change from my usual floral and fruity cleansing products and is a real joy to use. As a night cream, the balm feels rich yet lightweight on the skin, leaving behind only a very subtle sheen which isn’t greasy at all. In the morning, my skin didn’t feel dry and actually felt surprisingly soft and smooth before beginning my AM skincare routine. What I love most about Crema Di Pomodoro is that it is so concentrated that a little product goes a very long way, making this small jar incredibly good value for money.

Despite only using this a few times so far, I have to say that Casa Mencarelli have impressed me yet again and I cannot wait to continue utilising this in my routine for a longer period of time to see how it performs on a long term basis.

Casa Mencerelli: Crema Di Pomodoro – £15.00 – £45.00

Verdant Alchemy: Drift Off Bath Salts

Bath salts are my favourite bath time treat so I am always excited to see them in a beauty box. Verdant Alchemy are a new-to-me brand but after this experience, i’m sure it won’t be the last time I use their products within my beauty regime. The Drift Off Bath Salts are a heavenly blend of lavender, mandarin, patchouli and vetiver essential oils, white kaolin clay, dead sea salt and Epsom salts to cleanse, detoxify, ease aches and calm the mind to promote a deep, restful sleep.

The blend is certainly a delight for the senses, bringing instant relaxation as the aroma clears the mind and fills the bathroom with the lovely scent of lavender and mandarin. The salts themselves are finely milled therefore dissolve in warm running water with ease, leaving behind no grittiness behind in the tub. My skin felt lovely and soft after use and left my body feeling ache-free and truly pampered.

Verdant Alchemy’s Drift Off Bath Salts even helped eradicate a tension headache, and although I didn’t personally utilise these within my bedtime routine, I can certainly see how these would aid a good nights sleep. I cannot wait to try more Verdant Alchemy products in the future as my experience with their Drift Off Bath Salts has only been a positive one.

Verdant Alchemy: Drift Off Bath Salts – £12.00 – £45.00

Botanicals: Hands, Nails & Cuticles Serum

Botanicals are a brand that i’ve wanted to try for a while now so I was very excited to see their Hands, Nails & Cuticle Serum in September’s box. The blend of cold-pressed organic oils including rosehip, apricot kernel, carrot and evening primrose, alongside frankincense, fennel and lavender essential oils gives the Hand, Nails & Cuticle Serum its luxurious texture and aroma that is a treat for the senses as well as the skin. The oil itself feels very rich when applied to the skin yet absorbs in an instant, allowing you to massage it into your cuticles, hands and nails without leaving behind any greasy or sticky residue on the skin.

A little oil goes a very long way as a few drops is plenty to intensely nourish and soften both hands. The aroma is nicely balanced with the natural fragrance of the organic oils alongside a slight floral and aniseed aroma from the essential oil blend that dissipates quickly on the skin. My hands and cuticles have certainly felt moisturised after use, and the effects certainly lasted all day.  If you’re looking for an affordable hand and nail treatment that gives great results and is highly absorbent then Botanicals Hands, Nails & Cuticle Serum might just be the product for you.

Botanicals: Hands, Nails & Cuticle Serum – £14.00 – £27.00
