My Top Ten Beauty Products of 2017

As a New Year begins, there is always a time of reflection on the year that has passed. 2017 brought with it some amazing brand and beauty product discoveries, so many in fact that creating this list of just 10 favourites has been a long and difficult process! This top ten has changed multiple times and i’m sorry to say that some brands didn’t make the cut – but here are some of the products and brands that have wowed me over the past 12 months…

AA Skincare Brilliantly Balancing Shampoo Bar

AA Shampoo Bar

My first order from AA Skincare featured the Brilliantly Balancing Shampoo Bar designed for greasy and oily hair. This small bar, which gives you twice as many washes as a 250ml bottle of liquid shampoo, exceeded my expectations. Lemon and Bergamot are the two main essential oils which reduce excess oils and scalp build-up, as well as adding shine and soothing scalp irritation – they also stimulate hair growth too! It is so easy to use, as you simply create a lather in your hands and rub through the hair. It smells incredibly fresh and zesty, and my hair always feels squeaky clean and looks instantly brighter after use (as it eradicated any product build-up). It lasts such a long time that I’m still on my first bar, so it’s also fantastic value for money. It is also great for travelling, as you don’t run the risk of spillage, and as there are so many to choose from, you’ll be guaranteed to find one to suit your hair type. I have a full review of the brand and another item next week, so be sure to check back then to find out more.

AA Skincare Shampoo Bars – £5.94

Balance Me Beauty Pure Skin Face Wash

Balance Me Fash Wash

I’m not usually a fan of face washes, as they tend to strip the skin of natural oils, however Balance Me Beauty’s Pure Skin Face Wash is a completely different experience (and one of the main reasons why it features in my top ten!). Ever since this was featured in my October Birchbox,  I’ve been reaching for this nearly every morning as the scent of grapefruit and frankincense is subtle yet fresh, and it produces a good lather which leaves skin feeling fresh, clean and beautifully soft. I’ve experienced no tightness or dryness after use and it has completely renewed my love of Balance Me Beauty products!

Balance Me Beauty Pure Skin Face Wash – £16.00 (for 125ml).

Bloomtown Exfoliating and Moisturising Sugar Scrub – The Spring

bloomtown-scrub.jpg

As most of you know, i’m a huge fan of Bloomtown, as both the brand ethos and product range is amazing. So it is no surprise to you all that their Sugar Scrub have featured in my top ten products of 2017! I’ve selected the lovely fragrance-free ‘The Spring’ scrub as for me, there aren’t enough fragrance free products on the market as sometimes you just want to simplify even the most naturally scented products you use. I wrote a full review back in November, which you can find here, and have since purchased more of their product range to try. They’ll be another review of their Ultimate ‘Go Palm Oil-Free’ Kit coming at the end of this month so remember to check back to see my thoughts.

Bloomtown Exfoliating and Moisturising Sugar Scrubs – £6.50/£12.00.

Dr Botanicals Ultra Repair Overnight Regenerating Treatment

Dr Botanicals Overnight

As a dry skin sufferer, overnight face creams are always a winner. However, this Dr Botanicals Night Moisturiser is so lightweight yet nourishing, it stands apart from any other I’ve tried in the past. Not only does it give weightless intense hydration, but it also helps to reduce fine lines and create a barrier to environmental damage. If you’d like to check out my full review, you can do so here.

Dr Botanicals Ultra Repair Overnight Regenerating Treatment – £39.99 – £54.90 (depending on purchasing it direct or from another retailer).

Glossier Stretch Concealer – Light

Glossier Stretch

No beauty enthusiast will deny that the most awaited launch of 2017 was Glossier arriving to the UK. Hearing so many great reviews, I decided to place an order of some of their best-selling items including their Stretch Concealer. The reason why this product has made it into my top ten is because it is the only concealer I’ve ever used that didn’t cake on any dryness and is actually light enough on my pale skin. The beeswax base allows the concealer to move with the skin (hence the stretch name!), and therefore makes it perfect for even the most dry or more mature skin types. The range of skin tones shades is also quite impressive, so it really is an amazing product. I’ll be reviewing my full Glossier order very soon, so keep your eyes peeled! If you wanted to try any products, then use the link below to get 10% off your first order.

Glossier Stretch Concealer – £15.00

Guiltless Skin – Nourish Organic Body Oil

Guiltless Skin Body Oil

I discovered Guiltless Skin at the start of 2017, and I am yet to find a product I don’t like (which made choosing one to feature in this top ten extremely difficult!). Their Nourish Organic Body Oil is actually one of the most recent products I’ve tried and fell in love with. It is a gloriously lightweight dry oil which has an earthy and uplifting scent that absorbs beautifully into the skin.  You can see a full review here, as well as some other amazing products from their ever-growing range, and see how this product, as well as the brand itself, has really made a difference to my problematic skin.

Guiltless Skin Nourish Organic Body Oil – £30.00

Isla Apothecrary – Relax and Recover Bath Salts

Isla revive salts

I discovered Isla Apothecary back in 2016 through the Libbie Club, and always wanted to try more from the brand. It was in their Discovery Kit, purchased towards the end of last year, that I found their Relax and Recover bath salts.  Not only does this little jar of wonder offer a relaxing bath experience, but they also assist in muscle recovery. These certainly exceeded my initial expectations, as post-decorating wasn’t quite as painful after a hot Relax and Recover bath, and have certainly earned their place in my top ten of 2017 as a catalyst for my new-found bath salt addiction! I have a full review of the Discovery Kit coming on Thursday, so be sure to check back then to see what else featured in this box of mini-delights.

Isla Apothecary Relax and Recover Bath Salts – £20.00 (250g).

Narloa Balancing Face Oil

Narloa Balancing Face OilNarloa have been one of my favourite brands since their launch last year, and i’m so proud to be a brand ambassador. There are so many products I could have chosen as my favourite, as I honestly love them all, however I had to feature the one that I use on an everyday basis (as you can clearly see by the label; it’s well-loved!). The Balancing Face Oil absorbs nicely into the skin and leaves it feeling nourished and looking more radiant. I have a full review of the Balancing Face oil here, and since my first review have order this custom-sized bottle. I will be revealing more about their custom orders, as well as some other products I’m yet to review, so look out for a new post coming later this month!

P.S Don’t forget you can also get 15% off your order by using the code ’emma’.

Narloa Balancing Face Oil – £17.00 (30ml)

Percy and Reed – Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery

Percy and Reed Treatment

Percy and Reed are among one of my favourite haircare brands and when I received a miniature Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery in my July Birchbox last year, I knew it was a match made in heaven. To see my initial thoughts on the product, you can see my review here, and I have since then purchased the full size. It absorbs into the hair beautifully, without leaving any residue or stickiness, and after washing my hair feels amazingly conditioned without the heaviness. This was by far one of the best hair products I used throughout 2017 and I can’t wait to try more Percy and Reed products throughout 2018!

Percy and Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery – £16.00

Weleda – Skin Food

Weleda Skin Food

The final product in my top ten beauty products of 2017 is the iconic Skin Food by Weleda. I tried this back at the start of last year and it’s been a staple product ever since. The formula has a base of oils and beeswax which has a rich cream texture when applied to the skin and has a lovely zesty scent which is recognisably Skin Food.  It can be used on faces, hands, feet and body,  and instantly soothes and softens any dry or rough skin. I currently have a few sizes on the go, as a tube of this literally comes with me wherever I am, as it really is the ultimate skin saviour! I love this large 75ml for everyday use, and a handy 10ml tube for my handbag as it is great for on the go as it doesn’t feel too greasy on the skin and is a great all-rounder. I have to say that i’m loving Weleda products at the moment, as i’ve also been trying their deodorant and body lotions too, so keep a look out for a review of those in the near future!

Weleda Skin Food – £10.95

So there we have it, my top ten products of 2017! There have been some amazing brands that unfortunately didn’t make the cut (such as The Ordinary, Rituals, Angela Langford, Faith in Nature, Oils of Heaven, and Balm Balm to name a few), but I’m looking forward to seeing what delights and discoveries 2018 will have in store.

Have you tried any of these products, or have some favourite’s of your own? Let me know in the comments below!

Take care,
