June’s LoveLula beauty box was full of brands which were new to me, and with such a variety of products featured, I couldn’t wait to try everything out…
I love how this box features a selection of premium and affordable products as well as some recognisable, and not so familiar brands. I feel like out of all the boxes i’ve received this year, this has been one of the most varied and exciting.
L’Odaites – Gentle Polyphenol Exfoliator
This brand is not only new to me but has only just become available on Lovelula. The key ingredient in this exfoliator is dates, which are full of amino acids and polyphenols, giving the formula its powerful antioxidant boost. The addition of aloe vera and honey gives the product a soothing and moisturising effect, making it a powerhouse of a product designed for all skin types. It has quite a pungent scent which is unlike anything i’ve used in the past, but thankfully after a few uses, I’m growing to love the earthy fragrance. The texture is quite runny, thanks to the honey, but luckily there is a small spatula included to help get it out of the jar and it spreads across the face with ease. I’ve found a small amount goes a really long way, as you only need a thin layer across the skin, yet it lacks the grittiness I expected an exfoliator to have. After massaging in for a few minutes, it rinsed off easily with a cloth and my skin felt great. My face was smoother and softer, and a few dry patches had been completely eradicated. The look of my skin was greatly improved and it looked more radiant and somewhat calmer than it did beforehand. I’ve used it a few times now and am loving the results so far – and the best news is that I still have a lot left in the jar! At £39.00/60ml jar, it does have a premium price tag, but I have to say I still think it is good value for money. Due to the small amount you use, and the way you can use every bit of product, means that it will last quite a long time, probably double the time of my usual facial exfoliator – and the feel of my skin was definitely worth it.

Walden – See The Moonlight Rollerball
I’ve looked at Walden Natural Perfumes many times yet this was my first experience using their products. This ‘See The Moonlight’ perfumed oil comes in a rollerball which allows for easy application and is perfect for on-the-go. The fragrance itself has notes of fresh bergamot, jasmine and rose which slowly evolves into a subtle scent of sandlewood and ambrette seed throughout the day. When I first smelt the fragrance, I wasn’t entirely sure if I liked it or not, but as soon as it was on my skin, I really enjoyed the scent. It is feminine yet deep, and grows into a sultry scent after a few hours. Despite loving the perfume itself, I didn’t feel like the fragrance had lasting power, as it seemed to wear off come the afternoon. Thankfully, the rollerball allows you to top up easily so it’s not too much of an issue. After this experience, I will certainly be checking out more Walden fragrances in the future.

Joik Refreshing Facial Toner
Unbelievably, Joik has been on my wishlist for so long that even I can’t believe that I hadn’t got around to trying their products already! This refreshing toner was a welcomed addition to June’s box as toner is one step in my skincare routine which I never skip. This alcohol-free toner contains aloe vera to soothe, peppermint and grapefruit essential oils to refresh and sea buckthorn, which is high in vitamins A, C and E. The scent is beautifully light and energising, which is perfect for this time of year, as the peppermint gives it freshness other toner fragrances often lack. The formula itself does require a shake before use in order to combine the ingredients fully and despite it looking beautifully ombre in the bottle, it is quite difficult to blend and takes a while for it to be ready to use. It feels lovely on the skin, and does exactly what it intends to do; my skin is refreshed, soft and feels very balanced after just a few weeks of use. For the price of just £10, i’d definitely repurchase as I still have a good amount left, and have been impressed by the results so far.

Joik Sweet Orange and Mint Body Butter (Sample)
I absolutely loved the sound of this body butter which contains mango butter, coconut oil and macadamia nut oil to nourish and help main skin’s elasticity. It also contains essential oils of ylang-ylang, sweet orange, bergamot and spearmint to ignite the senses. Personally for me, I didn’t like the scent at all, as I wasn’t a fan of the sweet orange and mint combination, which unfortunately didn’t dissipate quick enough! The rich yet lightweight butter didn’t leave any greasy residue, and kept my skin feeling moisturised all day. Due to the scent I wouldn’t personally purchase this particular body butter again but already have my eye on Joik’s Citrus and Bergamot body butter for a future purchase – so watch this space!
Ren Skincare – ‘& Now to Sleep’ Pillow Spray
I’ve never used a sleep spray before, but as it’s designed to help maintain a natural sleep pattern, I was very excited to try it out. With a blend lavender, frankincense and hops, this award-winning spray helps to relax, calm and reduce any anxiety so you can drift off into a peaceful sleep. The scent is quite concentrated, so you only need a small amount of mist to achieve the optimum level of fragrance, and it doesn’t leave your pillow damp (something which I was slightly concerned about!). I personally didn’t notice any difference to my sleep pattern, which could have been down to the hot weather we’ve been experiencing lately, but I did find it very useful when relaxing with a face mask as it helped me to unwind and chill out without using candles to fragrance the room around me. I probably wouldn’t purchase it as a sleep spray, as I didn’t feel it suited me to use it in this way, however I wouldn’t be opposed to purchasing it for purely relaxation purposes.
I have to say that I loved the variety in June’s box and would certainly consider repurchasing most of the products. I loved the mix of product prices, as it is great to try a more premium product for a change, as well as some more affordable options.
