August’s box could not have arrived at a better time for me, as the products inside the ‘Quench & Glow’ themed box were just what my skin needed as the season began to change.
The box itself arrived beautifully packaged as always and had an overall value of £50.70, so yet again is amazing value for money. The products suited the theme perfectly, and with some new brands to discover, neither I nor my trusted helper could wait to try them out.
Not only did I have 6 great sized products to try in August’s box, but there was also some samples too. In addition, I also purchased some extra items from The Natural Beauty Box Website which you can add to your current subscription so you don’t have to pay extra postage costs. There is a great variety of products available, as well as a brand new oral care ‘subscribe and save’ offer, so there really has never been a better time to browse what else The Natural Beauty Box has to offer. Now on with the review of August’s Quench and Glow box…
Nakin Natural Anti-Aging Advanced Cleansing Milk
I am already a fan of Nakin Skincare after trying their Purifying Face Toner last month, so I was excited to try yet another product from the brand. This Advanced Cleansing Milk is 98% natural and is free-from wheat and gluten, as well as the usual nasties. The milk contains olive oil, pomegranate, seaweed extract and hyaluronic acid to give a deep cleanse without drying the skin. In addition to this, these skin loving ingredients also help to even the skin tone and assist cell renewal all while removing make-up, impurities and pollutants from the skin. This cleansing milk in particular is unlike any i’ve tried in the past, as the texture is completely unexpected. It is actually a rich cream as opposed to a milk that can be used in two ways, either as a cleanser which is removed with a cotton pad or alternatively, for added exfoliation, used with a damp muslin cloth. The scent is lovely and light, fresh and pleasant to use, and a little product goes quite a long way. My skin felt clean and soft, with no drying or tightening of my face after application, and I found that it worked well in partnership with Nakin’s Purifying Face Toner. If you haven’t tried Nakin products yet then you are missing out as they are such great quality, kind to skin and very affordable.
Bespoke Aroma: Peppermint Facial Mist
This particular facial mist from Bespoke Aroma had been on my wish list for a while so I was delighted to see it feature in August’s box. Bespoke Aroma are a British brand based in Windermere, whose extensive product range captures their brand ethos that only beneficial ingredients should feature in the skincare products we buy. This peppermint facial mist combines floral water and peppermint essential oil to provide a cooling, refreshing and hydrating mist which is suitable for all skin types. The spritz itself is punchy in peppermint fragrance and is a real treat for the senses as well as the skin. It calmed and revived my face and left my spirits feeling uplifted and energised. This is definitely a mist i’d repurchase, as it is unlike any other i’ve tried before thanks to the pure peppermint scent which is now one of my personal favourites.
Bespoke Aroma: Uplifting Bath Tea Infusion
It is on occasions like these that I am thankful that I have a bath, and although the experience of using bath tea was a new concept for me, I can safely say that it won’t be my last. This Bath Tea Infusion from Bespoke Aroma is 100% natural and uses plant botanicals and essential oils to relax the mind and body and nourish the skin. The Uplifting Bath Tea contains lemon pieces, rosemary leaves, oatmeal, dead sea salts and essential oils of peppermint and grapefruit which are all carefully contained in a small fabric ‘tea-bag’. The blend contains antioxidants to tone and restore, increase circulation, protect from moisture loss and aging, ease muscle stiffness and fatigue as well as clear the mind and improve memory and concentration. Thanks to all the stunning ingredients, the scent is zesty, minty and earthy all at the same time yet is beautifully balanced and not overpowering. What I love most about this is that it’s a multipurpose product, as not only does it provide a relaxing bath soak, but you can also use the tea bag as a flannel to further nourish the skin and then as a scent bag for your drawers once it has dried out. My skin really did feel the benefit of this infusion, as my dry skin felt moisturised, smelt fresh and even soothed patches on eczema on my arms and legs. This has to be one of the nicest bath time treats i’ve used in a long time and is an essential component to any pamper session.
Buff: Nuit Warming and Relaxing Sea Salt Body Scrub
As many of you know, I love nothing more than a body scrub and this one from Buff sounded like my kind of product. Buff handblend all their products with 100% natural ingredients and use packaging which is completely recyclable and 99% plastic free. The UK brand also supports animal and environmental charities, so really are among some of most ethical brands of the moment. The Evening Blend contains organic coconut oil and grapeseed oil, alongside bergamot, ginger, palma rosa, patchoulli and sandalwood essential oils to provide a warming and stress relieving formula which has three uses. Not only does this exfoliate the skin, thanks to the presence of sea salt, but when used in the bath it also doubles as a bath soak which intensely moisturises the skin. I think this is the perfect product to use as we head into the cooler months, as I certainly found the scent very warming and a great way to clear the head. Personally for me, I’m not too keen on the scent of ginger, but it did exactly what it was designed to do and is actually a product i’d continue to use throughout the cooler months. I can’t wait to try out Buff’s other products and explore their fragrance options further, as it is certainly a product that delivered.
CHOBS: Collagen Mask
I’ve been on the hunt for a natural sheet mask for some time so was thrilled to see this appear in August’s box, especially as nothing say’s ‘Quench and Glow’ quite like a sheet mask! CHOBS is a South Korean Organic Skincare brand which certainly captures the true essence of South Korean beauty products, as this mask is both innovative and highly effective. CHOBS has certifications from The Vegan Society and COSMOS, and is eco-friendly with its biodegradable natural Tencel sheet. The Collagen mask is one of many varieties of mask CHOBS create, and contains organic rosemary leaf, chamomile water and collagen extract to hydrate, plump, repair, rejuvenate and tighten the skin. It is developed for every skin type in mind, even sensitive, and makes for the perfect treat in your pamper routine. The Tencel mask is soft, easy to put into place on the skin and is also a good size to eradicate overstretching and missed areas. The mask is quite wet with serum, which is great as it means you have excess liquid to take down the neck and save for later in the day as a serum in your usual skincare routine. After 20 minutes, this cooling mask made my skin feel incredible. My dry skin was intensely hydrated and looked refreshed and somewhat brighter. This is definitely one of the best sheet masks i’ve tried in a long time and I have already ordered several others to try from the range.
Divine and Handmade: Pure Hazelnut Oil
Before August’s box was delivered, I have to admit that I had never heard of Divine and Handmade before, yet as creators of natural and palm-oil free skincare, this won’t be my only experience with the brand. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know how much I love my multipurpose oils, but Hazelnut oil is a first for me as i’ve never considered how beneficial it is in a beauty routine. Hazelnut Oil is suitable for all skin types, but especially useful for oily and problematic skin as it cleanses the pores, promotes firmer skin and has even been proven to help eliminate acne. The oil is rich in Vitamin A and E, has antioxidant properties and forms a barrier on the skin to retain moisture. The oil itself is highly absorbent and doesn’t leave any greasy residue on the skin. It has a subtle nutty scent which makes it a great addition for anyone who prefers a more fragrance free product, as what little scent is present soon dissipates on when applied to the skin. Where I found Hazelnut Oil most useful was as a hair care product, as it is great to use on damp ends of your hair to smooth cuticles and repair split ends. I also use it as a pre-wash scalp oil and have found that my scalp is flake-free, less dry and that my hair feels in better condition. This is such a great product that can be used in a multitude of different ways, and is amazing value for money. I already have my eye on Divine and Handmade’s Pure Baobab Oil, and can’t wait to see what more the brand has to offer.
Twelve Ideal Moisture Level Serum and Ideal Brightening Corrective Serum
I had recently heard of the Twelve brand so it was nice to have a brief look at some of their products. Twelve pride themselves on creating skincare which uses only eco-approved ingredients to create products proven to help even the most sensitive and problematic skin types. Both these serums are incredibly lightweight, which left my skin soft and hydrated. The Ideal Moisture Level Serum has an almost water-like texture and has a lovely light, fresh scent which isn’t overpowering at all. This one for me was possibly my favourite on first impressions, as my skin was intensely moisturised and super soft. The Ideal Brightening Corrective Serum had a slightly different texture, which was slightly more creamy, but it didn’t leave my skin quite as moisturised as the one i’d tried previously. Twelve products will definitely be going on my wish list after this experience as I have to say that I saw a noticeable difference to my skin after first use, and the reviews i’ve seen online certainly speak for themselves.
As I said at the start of this post, I added a few extra items to my beauty box in August and was impressed by the items available to purchase. Here’s a brief review of the two additional items I decided to try out.
F.E.T.E Bamboo Toothbrush
My first item was a new bamboo toothbrush, and this one from F.E.T.E has been my favourite yet. I’ve been using a bamboo brush for a while now, but my previous one felt slightly too bulky and a little rough. This one is not only perfectly smooth but also has shaped bristles to give you a better, more comfortable clean. The accent colour on the brush also makes it look more attractive as well as allowing you to select a colour for each family member, something which a lot of brands fail to offer. The subscribe and save option that The Natural Beauty Box offer’s is so helpful, as you’ll always know exactly when to replace your brush.
Rawganic: The Pure Hydrating Facial Wipe
After using Rawganic wipes for the first time back in June, I couldn’t wait to try these hydrating wipes. Now I don’t usually use wipes for cleansing, but I always find these incredibly helpful for removing excess make-up from the back of my hand after application and to remove the top layer of make-up before my first cleanse. These hydrating wipes, containing pomegranate, are perfect for my dry skin as they leave my skin feeling soft and nourished without the immediate need to moisturise (which is great when using them on my hands). I would definitely recommend these if you’re looking for make-up wipes which are better for environment and kind on the skin.
August’s box was full of skincare delights and the theme was perfect for this time of year. As always, Emma had curated a box with a great selection of brands which are cruelty free, vegan friendly and incredibly ethical. The brands I discover each month in The Natural Beauty Box box never cease to wow me with their product performance and enable me to keep my skincare routine fresh and exciting.
