The arrival of my Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box always fills me with excitement, and January’s box was certainly no exception. The box had a Regenerate theme which was certainly a welcome addition at this time of year.

The box was packaged well as always and arrived promptly after dispatch. The first box of the year certainly contained some fantastic products from both brands i’ve used in the past as well as some that I am yet to try.
Clockface Beauty: Hand and Cuticle Roll On (Frankincense and Rose Otto)

I was thrilled to see Clockface Beauty feature in this month’s box as the brand were among my favourite discoveries of 2018. Clockface Beauty’s Hand and Cuticle oil is formulated with eight oils to nourish and rejuvenate dry and damaged skin as well as fighting signs of aging and keeping even the most driest hands moisturised. The rollerball application makes for speedy on the go application, ensuring that no product is wasted, and allows you target specific areas of the hands to gain the most benefit from the product itself. The scent is luxurious and uplifting, with frankincense and rose otto working in harmony to deliver a beautifully subtle scent which makes this oil a joy to use. The oil itself is slightly heavier than other hand and cuticle oils i’ve used in the past, as it does feel slightly greasy on application. Surprisingly, after a few seconds rubbing into the cuticles, it quickly absorbed leaving behind no oily residue at all. My nails and hands feel soft and moisturised after use and I can’t wait to see the long term effects of using this throughout the rest of the Winter months.

Clockface Beauty Hand and Cuticle Roll On: £12.50/10ml
Pure Lakes: Grapefruit and Lemongrass Shower Gel

Pure Lakes is a new brand to me but as far as first impressions go, i’m sure it won’t be the last time I use their products! I am a huge fan of citrus scents, especially when it comes to bath and shower products, so Pure Lakes Grapefruit and Lemongrass Shower Gel was certainly going to be a winner for me. The grapefruit and lemongrass essential oils give the shower gel an intense yet perfectly balanced aroma that is refreshing and revitalising. The gel itself is quite firm in texture, and holds well on the skin in the shower while producing a gentle lather which leaves skin feeling clean, fresh and silky smooth to the touch. I didn’t experience any dryness after use, and it left my skin smelling incredible! I cannot wait to try more from Pure Lakes, as their brand ethos and my experience with their shower gel, has certainly left me wanting to explore the brand further in the not-so-distant future.

Pure Lakes Shower Gel: £5.00/100ml – £25.00/1ltr
Okko Skincare: Foot Balm Stick

I have previously tried Okko Skincare’s Foot Balm stick in a previous beauty box so was glad to see it appear again as I’m yet to purchase the full-size. You can see my first impressions here, but I have to say that the convenience of the stick format, and the beautiful formulation of the balm itself, makes this an amazing treat for your feet.

Okko Skincare Foot Balm Stick: £3.00/4.5g – £21.00/50g
Northburn: Relax Aromatherapy Candle

There’s something about January that makes me burn more candles than any other time of the year – I think it’s a combination of dark night, cold weather and the fact that January seems to be the longest month of the year. This candle from Northburn, in completely zero-waste packaging, is the perfect remedy for my January blues. The lavender and vetiver fragrance is strong from the tin, however as it starts to burn, the aroma subtly fills the room with the calming scent which captures the relaxing namesake of the candle itself. The burn time of 30-35 hours makes it incredibly good value for money and the stylish design also makes it the perfect accessory to any home decor. I can’t wait to continue to use this throughout the next few weeks as it is such a lovely addition to my growing candle collection, and with so many amazing fragrances in their range of home fragrance, i’m sure this won’t be the only Northburn product I own.

Northburn Relax Aromatherepy Candle: £12.50
Cacti Cosmetics: Avocado Lip Balm

This was the first time i’d heard of the Cacti brand, so I was excited to try something new. From first impressions, the zero waste packaging, modern design and larger size is something which sets it apart from a lot of other brands in the green beauty market. The balm itself is lovely and soft with a slightly greasy texture which makes application very smooth and effortless. On the lips, it gives a lovely sheen and certainly soothed my dry lips in an instant. Even though it has a slightly greasy feel on the lips (which I actually like in a lip balm), it can be buffed into lips easily if you prefer to reap the hydrating benefits without any shine on the lips. I have enjoyed using this as a lip balm, especially during the recent cold snap we’ve been experiencing, as it has prevented any chapping on my lips and kept them soft and smooth. Where Cacti’s lip balm comes into its own is as an overnight lip mask. Simply applying a thicker layer of balm overnight leads to gloriously soft lips by the morning. First impressions have been amazing and I will certainly continue to use this as an overnight treatment for kissable lips throughout the Winter months.

Cacti Cosmetics Avocado Lip Balm: £6.95/10ml (biodegrable tube) or 15ml (recycable tin).

Cacti Cosmetics: Regeneration Facial Oil

I was happy to see a second product from Cacti, and as always, was excited to see a face oil featured in this month’s box. Regeneration is formulated to give a more radiant complexion thanks to the skin-loving ingredients which naturally exfoliate, stimulate cell renewal and strengthen the skin’s barrier. First impressions have been good so far, as the smell is fresh and dissipates on the skin quickly after application. The texture is nice and lightweight and leaves skin feeling so soft and smooth without any residue on the surface. It’s moisturising effects certainly last all day and into the evening, and after use at bedtime, my skin felt nourished when I woke the next morning. Even though this is designed with oily skin types in mind, my dry and dehydrated skin has been loving this oil so far. I can’t wait to see how my skin reacts after i’ve finished the sample to determine whether the long term effects will be as good as my initial experience. As far as first impressions go, this certainly looks like it might be a keeper.

Cacti Cosmetics Regenertion Facial Oil: £12.95/10ml – £29.95/50ml

PHB Ethical Beauty Samples

I am a huge fan of PHB Ethical Beauty products, from their make-up to their skincare products. I was thrilled to see some samples of their newly released skincare range featured in this month’s box as i’ve been excited to try their new product line. I haven’t tried these as yet but I have heard amazing reviews so far. I am particularly looking forward to trying out the Superfood Brightening Serum, as we all need some brightness in the darker Winter months, so I will bring you a first impressions update very soon.

This months box has been one of my favourites, with an array of beauty treats perfect for this time of year. The Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box has introduced me to some amazing brands this month and is exactly what a beauty box should be. I can’t wait to try these out further to see how each product performs over a longer period of time, but if first impressions are anything to go by, it won’t be the last time you see these brands on Beauty Folio.
