Top Ten Brand Discoveries: 2019

It’s that time of year again to reflect upon the highs and lows of the past 12 months and acknowledge the things you’ve learnt and experienced.  As a green beauty blogger, this always leads me to reflect upon the amazing beauty brands i’ve discovered throughout 2019 – and there have certainly been some truly great treats passing through Beauty Folio HQ this year!

In order to celebrate those who have continually impressed (with at least three products), i’ve briefly rounded up my favourite brand discoveries this year – all of which i’ll be exploring either further in 2020!

Amaranthine

Amaranthine have certainly impressed with their skincare this year as each one i’ve tried has blown me away with instantly great results each time. From the silky cleansing balm to their array of clay masks for every skin types, Amaranthine have certainly delivered.

All the products are palm-oil free, affordable and handmade in Scotland with 100% natural ingredients. The true passion the brand have for great skin is realised in each product in a range that caters for all.

Apotheca London

I love brands who have a small but incredibly beautiful skincare range, which is exactly what Apotheca London have achieved with their natural, organic and sustainable skincare products that celebrates transparency when it comes to our beauty routine.

Their Rosewater Mist is among my favourite facial spritzes and their Nourishing Face Oil and Frankincense Cleansing Balm have integrated beautifully with my skincare routine and delivered great results after each application. The simplistic packaging appeals to the masses while also keeping the use of plastic to a minimum.

BAO Skincare

I’ve tried a lot of BAO Skincare products throughout 2019 (admittedly, I enjoyed some so much they didn’t have a chance to write a full blog review about them) but what each product had in common is that they are absolutely stunning and perfect for dry and sensitive skin types like mine.

The brand have an organic, cruelty free, vegan and natural range that caters for all your skincare needs from nourishing facial products to relaxing body care items – BAO have thought of it all.  With new launches and a brand new look for 2020, it is set to be an exciting year for BAO Skincare.

Farryn Amber

I first discovered Farryn Amber in the Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box earlier this year and was instantly blown away by the performance of their Rose Clay Face Mask which certainly left a lasting impression. Since then, i’ve tried various other items from their extensive range and the performance and the exceptional quality has continued to impress.

Their range of eco-luxury products are organic, natural and beautifully packaged and are perfect to revitalise the skin and the senses, making them a great addition to any skincare routine. They’ll be more Farryn Amber reviews coming very soon so be sure to check back to hear my first impressions of their skincare range.

Meadow Skincare

If you’ve been following this year you’ll have noticed my love of Meadow Skincare as both their approach to skincare and the amazing results guaranteed it’s place in my top ten of 2019. The products are simple yet incredibly effective  on my dry and sensitive skin and thanks to their waterless formulations, are amazing good value for money too.

Their nourishing, vegan-friendly products have transitioned my skincare from Summer through to Winter seamlessly and will certainly be skincare staples within my beauty regime well into 2020. I love their various sizes so you can try before buying full-sized and their skincare treats make great gifts to start someone on their natural skincare journey.

Nudge Boutique

It seems strange to say that a beauty brand’s formulations are life-changing but when it comes to Nudge Boutique, their products really are game changers in your beauty regime. Their beautifully nourishing skincare products are simply gorgeous, with an ageless range that combats dry skin concerns for a more radiant complexion (they’ll be more of these reviews coming soon!).

Yet where the brand shines is in the newly launched shampoo tablets that offer plastic-free hair care with absolutely no transition period – just hair than is clean, bouncy and shiny while staying cleaner for longer. With a number of varieties available there is something for everyone and with the brand moving away from miron glass, they will be even more plastic-free in 2020.

Pure Savvy

I absolutely fell in love with the stylishly packaged Pure Savvy when I tried them earlier this year as they never fail to impress with their range that highlights the importance of me time, even if you are short on time. The whole product range is perfect for busy lives with a one minute mask, multi-tasking products and highly absorbent serums that integrate seamlessly into your routine.

Pure Savvy for me is a luxury brand that performs every time, creating amazing results in an instant, allowing you to get great skin without spending any extra time on your routine.

The Earth Works Cosmetics

I first discovered TEWC in The Natural Beauty Box and after trying more products from their range, I have fallen in love with the brand as their vegan, cruelty-free and natural products are now regulars within my skin routine.

From the lovely skin-loving formulations to the simplistic packaging, the brand are a true celebration of great skin and certainly boast a range to cater for all your skincare needs. The best news is that all the products created by TEWC are utilised in their treatments at TEWC Therepies based in Northamptonshire, so you can buy in confidence knowing that the products you’ll be utilising in your routine will give you great spa-like results at home.  The added bonus for me is that they are based a couple of miles away from my home so it’s a great way to support a local business as well as an independent.

I must say that The Natural Beauty Pot are the epitome of everything I look for in a natural beauty brand from the packaging to the glorious formulations inside each frosted glass jar – the products are absolutely stunning. Everything i’ve tried from The Natural Beauty Pot has impressed from the Soothing Cleansing Oil to their relaxing bath salts; each product has left a lasting impression and has worked in harmony within my routine.

The brand has such a unique identity that not only makes their products recognisable, but also appeal to any age. Their all-year-round gifting options also makes it easy to give the gift of great skin for any occasion and as they also stock various other independent brands on their website and in their store in Northern Ireland,  you are never out of gifting options (or beautiful treats for yourself!).

Last, but by no means least, is the luxurious Skin Alchemists’ range that is high quality, decadent and provides an experience like no other. From the stunning aromatic blends and the skin loving ingredients to the innovative products , Skin Alchemists help bring a spa-like quality to your everyday skincare ritual.

The products themselves never fail to impress, from the gentle cleansing formulation of The Humble Warrior, soothing Sesenne Facial Elixir and Intensive Skin Treatment, I have honestly fallen in love with each product i’ve tried. If you’re looking for some luxury within your skincare routine then Skin Alchemists is certainly a great place to start.

Special Mention – Five Brand’s Who Have Made a Great First Impression

I couldn’t leave my favourite brand discoveries of 2019 without giving a special mention to five brands who have made a great first impression even though i’ve only tried one or two items from their product range. Each of these brands will be top of my list to try further in 2020 as they have had such a huge impact on my skin already.

Apothaka

I’ve been in love with Apothaka products ever since I discovered their bestselling SOS Recovery Nail and Cuticle Oil at the start of 2019 and since then, I have repurchased it on multiple occasions.

Later this year, I also added their SOS Recovery Hand Cream into my routine and have been blown away yet again with the amazing results. I cannot wait to venture into their facial skincare range in 2020 because if it is the same great quality as their hand care products, it will be a truly wonderful experience.

Bumi Naturals

I have only tried one product from Bumi Naturals yet they have certainly left me wanting to try more in 2020. Their Face Polish really helped to combat my dry and flaky skin and both the scent and texture was unlike anything i’d ever used before.

Bumi

The brand truly captures everything I look for within a beauty brand with their ethos and product range that epitomises the importance of cruelty free, natural and organic skincare. I will certainly be exploring their beautiful range in the not-so-distant future as their nourishing products sound perfect for my dry skin type.

Cut.Le.Crap had been on my radar for a while before I tried them out a few months ago but as soon as I’d experienced only one product, I knew they were a brand I needed to explore further.

Their Natural Hair Oil is one of the best i’ve tried as it left my hair feeling nourished without being heavy of greasy. Their no-nonsense approach to beauty is admirable and exactly what i’m looking within my products.

Lime & Lilac

Lime & Lilac’s Passionflower Cleansing Oil certainly impressed me when I started using it a few months ago as the unique texture and overall performance blew me away from first application.

Everything about this cleansing oil makes it a stunning addition to your skincare routine and the capsule collection makes each product incredibly special as each one is handmade to order. The passion the brand have is realised in their product and I cannot wait to try more from Lime and Lilac in 2020.

I may have only started using Om Shanti Alchemy’s products this month (hence the lack of reviews!) but I already know that they are going to be a regular addition to my skincare routine for the long haul.

Handmade in Wales, their range is certainly food for the soul as well as the skin, and i’ll be sure to update you on my progress as I carry on testing (but it is safe to say that they are a brand that I can’t wait to explore more next year!).
